Safety of pheromones

Hi all,

Just wondering if there’s info on the safety of synthetic pheromones?

I’m a wee bit paranoid about the carcinogenic concern associated with the use of synthetic estrogen. Any issues here?

And do the pheromones influence other hormone levels in the body?

Nothing wrong with being health conscious.

Well I cant give you any scientific or medical data, only tell you my experience so far with mones.

I have been using mones for over 10 years and have not experienced any real serious health concerns from them. I think moderation is the key just like with anything else really. I tend to worry about people who are using really high dosages of 50 mcg or more or any one molecule. Many of us are health conscious here and looked into this very question and I think we each have our own opinion on it but the general consensus is the same. In moderation they are fine. You dont ingest them, because of the alcohol carrier you absorb very little if any, the amount you inhale is higher then what you would walking around smelling natural mones but if thats a concern you can apply them to the back of your neck or body. Are they perfectly safe ???.. no I cant say that but I cant tell you that for any product on the market pheromones or not. Are they relatively safe if used correctly ???.. Yes I would say they are.

The only molecule I wont use is Meo Est. Its a estrogen derivative, the one used in hormone replacement therapies. I dont think use in this form it is even minutely as bad as ingesting the hormone but its just one of my personal pet pevs, plus it never did much pheromonally for me. Its not in many of the products and not in the consumer line at all as far as I know.

I tend to use natural or organic as much as I can because I think its the accumulation of all the products we use all the time that increases risk over time. So using… natural shampoo, conditioner and hygiene products, natural cleaning stuff , eating more organic foods, using glass instead of plastic, staying out of china, LOL,… cuts down on the build ups of toxins in the body on a whole and makes me feel more comfortable wearing mones. I also do a detox every three months but I always did that. This is just how I approach using some things that may or may not be good for you though. Keep in mind even though mones are synthetic they are created naturally by our bodies as well so they are not really foreign to us.

I have seen no changes in my hormone levels and I see a functional medicine practitioner yearly who checks my levels. I have noticed some mones will throw my cycle off a little but thats it. Copulins which are not sold here and have been proven to spike testosterone levels in men when exposed do effect levels for men but its a temporary thing and still within the normal range of a healthy male level.

The only real side effects I have ever seen are occasional headaches but this is more likely from the scent cover for me. Sometimes if I over use I deplete my neurotransmitters but being health conscious in my diet thats rarely been a problem and your neurotransmitters generally replenish on there own naturally with a little break from mones if it does occur. Just so your aware alcohol caffeine and sugar can deplete them as well so its not just mones doing it.

All in all I would say you will be fine. If you do tend to worry about these things though just apply to your cloths. Its not the recommended or preferred method of application here but it still works. Your dosage may differ then a skin application though and you will need to use oxyclean or a oxidized detergent get it out of your cloths but thats no big deal really.

Well answered once again.

As I haven’t yet received my order yet, I’ve got no idea of what the smell is like. I’ve ordered Pink Sugar as suggested over and over for special occasions, but I don’t like the idea of the acetaldehydes. Hopefully there aren’t any acetaldehydes in the pheromones. If necessary, what organic/more natural option can be used to cover the pheromone?

My hormones are all over the place anyway. So I guess I’ll have to wear it.

Off topic, but what hair, facial and deodorant products do you use? I’m due to order some more off iherb and could do with some suggestions. What do you do to detox? Generally, I play it pretty safe because I’m a slow metaboliser.

I’m personally planning to stay well away from India at the rate they use antibiotics.

How do you notice the depletion of your neurotransmitters? Do you get anxious, depressed or other? I assume I’ll still be affected whether I wear the stuff on my skin or clothes, yeah?

Acetaldehydes are naturally occurring. Its in the air, land, ground water coffee, bread, fruit, oxidized alcohol anything fermented.

Really you get more acetaldehydes from drinking one beer then using 1 bottles of perfume containing it so I wouldn’t worry to much about it. Its only a carcinogen in alcoholics, smokers and people who breathe in a lot of exhaust fume. Just another case of moderation being the key. If you are worried just spray it on your cloths.

I believe they use DPG and organic perfumers alcohol as a carrier here. Steve would know for sure.

I use Ren hair care products. I love the grapefruit one.

I use a deoderant stone. I get mine at greenfeet.com I got my last Diva cup there to cause I dont like tampons.

I use all mineral makeup from purelux.com

A lot of the perfumes, lotions soaps and girly bath diva stuff I get from small vendors online who are more organic and make there products fresh when you order. They dont last long sitting on a shelf but thats ok I use it up fast.

On my face I use something I will make depending on the season but if I am feeling lazy I have youthful essentials enriched facial wash that I pick up at the Vitamin store near me.

I do use bliss.com products to but they are not organic.

I never use aluminum foil to cook ever LOL

I cook with cast iron pots and pans my grandmother left me. I dont like that new Teflon shit.

I am mindful not to microwave or store food in plastic. I use glass. I try to limit the plastic use in the house.

I am not a fanatic, I accumulated a lot of stuff slowly over time. Its not like I dont do things that could be bad for me. I drink once in a while and I dye my hair and plenty of other stuff but I just be mindful of the things I can control and I am willing to change.

Fasting…

I am a avid juicer so I will do a juice fast for 3 days every 3 months using all organic fruits and vegetables. I dont have a sauna, wish I did lol, but I will steam up the bathroom really hot when I shower on those 3 days to help promote sweating. I dont do heavy work outs during those days though just some yoga or meditations. Drink a lot of clean water to.

You just get tired easy without good reason. Its sort of like crashing off of a sugar of caffeine high. Yes you will be effected pheromonally whether its on your skin or cloths but on your cloths it wont bother your skin or get into your system. It doesn’t enter your blood stream through the olfactory system. Like I mentioned before though even on the skin only a minuet amount is absorbed into the system if any. I only suggest cloths application if its something you worry about. You want to enjoy the products not worry about them.

Good info, thanks. Hopefully the benefits outweigh the side effects.

I use Aubrey Organics for hair. Though I must say, I’m not a fan of deodorant stones, I use the Nutribiotic grapeseed rollon. It’s not been too bad, and during Feb here in Australia, deodorant is put to the test.

I just ordered a moon cup actually, will be good for swimming.

I wear makeup 2x a year, so I’m happy to use whatever’s on hand.

I’m not really into juice, I like the whole fruit/veg, but I take R-ALA, DIM, SAM-e, MSM, Magnesium Citrate, Spirulina, Chlorella etc which do detox various heavy metals.

Yeah, I know what it feels like. I go through a crash every day anyway, but I’ll see how the spray affects me.

Some pheromones, or what some dealers claim to be pheromones might have some risks.

- Oxytocin who you might find in some products are well debated. Some claims you’ll have to use nasal spray to see any kind of effect at all. In that case Oxytocin are useless. But some claims it to have great effect, and if that is so, you should be very carefull getting exposed for longer period of time or making any kind of OD with it.
Here’s a clip of what is written about it on Wikipedia :

“Excessive dosage or long term administration (over a period of 24 hours or longer) have been known to result in tetanic uterine contractions, uterine rupture, postpartum hemorrhage, and water intoxication, sometimes fatal.
Increased uterine motility has led to the following complications in the fetus/neonate:Decreased heart rate or heart rate decelerations, Cardiac arrhythmia, Brain damage, Seizures, Death”

So if you use any products containing Oxytocin, please be careful and not reapply during the days and dont apply on clothes so it will last longer and dont get it on bed sheets so you also are exposed to it while you sleep.

- Androstadienone is said to decrease a mans mood and in worst case make him depressed. I cant find much about it, but being mentioned a couple of times here at PheroTalk.

- Methoxyestratetraenone also called Meo-Est is as Tisha says not in many products and not as i can see in the products line here, but i can see that some other pheromone companies use it. There is not much i can find on the web about it, other than several posts on forums from people claiming it to highten risk of getting breast cancer. So, for me it is of course a real stay away.

It think its worth mention that there is also many toughts about pheromone might also have good health issues, and if it had been better research on this issues, i am shure some pheromones actually could have medicine effects on some problems.

Thanks Q-Tips. Does Androstadienone cause any problems for women, or is it in any female products? Or could the depression just be a symptom of depleted neurotransmitters, which could happen with many of the pheromones. I have to be careful with depressive triggers anyway, so good to know.

I’ve heard that Oxytocin is pretty useless too. And anything-estrogen is not a good idea unless it’s DIM, we’ve got too many mimics in our environment it seems.

Oxytocin I cant say with 100% certainty its not here in putative form but I know its not in the consumer products. You need a huge dosage to send someone into labor and it needs to be inhaled directly into the nasal canal for absorption. I just dont think it does anything pheromonally. Products like LT which contain it contain other pheromones as well. Any good reaction is likely from those mones.

A1 is not used here at all.

Meo est is sold here under it name not a code number. It is probably used in very low doses in a few test mixes. It’s not the manageable low doses that AD uses in mixes that worry me. They know what they are doing when it comes to safe levels in mixing at least a hell of a lot more then the average mone user.

Its the huge amounts that I see users applying of the single molecule that concerns me. I know since its on the shelf AD probably dosent agree with my opinion on it and thats fine it just surprised me a little because part of the reasoning for not selling A1 is the side effects. Those are short term and seen after a few uses and go away once exposure stops. Meo Est is fine short term but has the potential to cause problems in the long term IMO. Nothing has been tested or proven about this in the form we use it though but the nature of the molecule is not promising IMO. You may not see people reporting problems for years and by then its to late because people have been using it in extreme doses.

You gotta use common sense and come to your own decision though.

I just skimmed through this thread and it’s a little scary that pheromone can also be dangerous and make people depressive or even be fatal like oxy.
How do you avoid such things as a user? I mean when those substances first came out they most likely didn’t even know about the side effects right?
What if a new pheromone comes out and everybody buys it and later on they find out that it can be dangerous?
And do the pheromones from androtics contain any potentially dangerous phermones where one needs to be careful not to overdose them?
I really hadn’t expected pheromones to be so powerful that they can induce depression and suicide that’s crazy. Imagine what could be done with such a substance in biological warfare. I bet the government has already a patent on it lol.

Does Instant Shine contain any of these?

Catz I think we pretty much covered the riskier mones above. In the consumer products there are no mones that have been untested. If your nervous about the advanced mones which are more in testing then stick to the named products.

I have never seen a pheromone cause depression or suicide, I think that is a exaggeration. A down mood yes but it passes when the mones dissipate.

Pheromones are basically natural substances the body makes. Your in more danger of adverse reactions from your shampoo then from mones. Of course just like anything else to much of a good thing can be bad so moderation is the key.

OD here means opposite of desired effect its not like a drug overdose. No pheromones can cause a drug induced overdose. You dont really ingest them they dont get into the blood stream because of the blood brain barrier.

Tisha

how bout p78?i read from a thread that maybe it contains estrogen

I am not sure what the question is. Are you asking if it is estrogen, if its safe or if it makes men aroused ?

Tish

Be careful. The supposedly “human Pheromones” that are added to most Pheromone products are man made chemicals done in a lab. They are steroid based and can affect your health. Use safe pheromones.

Weinhack - How about slowing down a bit and responding to the question I asked asked on one of the other threads you just bumped?

Of course there steriods and other hormones. Thats what a pheromone is synthetic or not. Did you think this was a new discovery none of us knew about ? As long as you dont ingest, inject or spray them directly up your nose they are safe.

Tisha

If synthetic pheromones aren’t “safe” are you recommending that pheromone producers go back to using teenaged children in China to extract their sweat by torturing them with over-exasperation and heat?

Because I only know two methods of acquiring a chemical: Synthesis and extraction.

For those of us with loose morals - would that alternative option be cheaper?

I’m just kidding of course

When you say “go back to” using children in China… did that used to happen!? =0

“Sense Memory” a series special of “Criminal Minds” aired on 6/1/11 and featured a criminal who extracted the pheromones of women – as in the novel by Suskind “Perfume.” I despise most television programming, and this one was not well scripted.
