Just a guess…
this isn’t medicine, or even particularly good science, it is my conjecture… pheromones are a long term part of human evolution and we’re designed to deal with them… in some circumstances where many pregnant women have gone, there will be extrordinary amounts of naturally produced pheromones in the air, like crowds at hockey games, boxing matches, or any other emotionally worked up crowd environments. It is almost certain that naturally produced pheromones ARE part of why crowds behave the way they do… or concerts where you have ecstatic, partially sexually aroused, emotionally high young audiences, take the normal range of human phero output and multiply that by a couple of thousand, or prisons too would be dripping with male territorial/dominance aggression signals…
And other places where there would be tons of pheromones, not necessarily of the human sort, but close, would be zoos and circuses, wild animal parks, things like that…
I even wonder about summer travel on the subway system at rush hour after a hectic day with everyone sweaty and worked up, exhausted, pouring it out all day long…
The one big “estrogen disaster” was diethystilbestrol:
“In the United States, an estimated 5-10 million persons were exposed to DES during 1938-1971, including women who were prescribed DES while pregnant and the female and male children born of these pregnancies. In 1971, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a Drug Bulletin advising physicians to stop prescribing DES to pregnant women because it was linked to a rare vaginal cancer in female offspring. DES was, however, never banned and was continued to be prescribed in the U.S. and other countries well beyond the 1971 date (1978 in most European countries and even as late as 1994 in some third world countries).”
DES is still in use as a human medicine to treat prosate cancer and it is used in vetinary medicine for things like incontinence in housecats. An estimate (mine) for a single human dose might be 25 milligrams… which is 2,500 micrograms, and this amount would be taken throughout pregnancy, or estimate if taken for the final trimester, 90 days, would be a load of 2,250 milligrams or 2,250,000 micrograms… and DES is a very strange molecule when you look at it, highly un-pheromone like in structure… and a monsterous quantity by pheromone standards…
