Looking for mystery cologne

I was talking to a close female friend recently and she was telling me of an experience she had at the local mall. Apparently, someone had been trying testers of the men’s cologne, and she “locked on” one particular scent. The salesgirl told her the name (which she promptly forgot, of course) but she did remember the girl telling her that it was a mix of vanilla, sandalwood, suede and musk.

Now it gets interesting: She told me that that particular mix seemed to embody the PERFECT man scent, comforting, bold, warm with a touch of sweet, yet spicy enough to be extremely sexy. Apparently, it actually got her a little, um, damp.

It goes without saying, I WANT this cologne. I’m tempted to take her to the mall and try to find it, but we’re both allergic to certain scents and we’d both probably end up with migraines before we found it again. Maybe if she found the same salesgirl…

So, anyone have any idea which cologne embodies that particular mix? Vanilla, sandalwood, suede and musk. I’ve tried Google, but I’m now crosseyed from trying to understand undertones, layers, first, second and third passes…

Until I find it, I’m just going to have to order my Instant Shine with Akuto fragrance. Love that scent.

Shifting this to Parfums where it belongs as it’s off topic to pheromones.

It could be Jasmine Musk by Tom Ford

White Musk Collection Jasmine Musk Tom Ford perfume - a new fragrance for women 2009

Jasmin Musk includes notes of ylang-ylang, jasmine, patchouli, iris root, vanilla, sandalwood, vetiver, labdanum and amber, with the presence of two kinds of musk.

It was a mens cologne, didn’t see any Tom Ford for men on that site.

I plugged Vanilla, Sandalwood, and Suede into Google and found Prada Amber Pour Homme:

No guarantees if that’s it, but it was the only match I found with all three notes in a men’s cologne. If you go somewhere and check it out, do please report back and let us know if that was it. I’m curious and intrigued now.

It’s interesting that the first two oils come from Italy, as my friend is half Italian. Funny, when I tried to Google it, I ended up finding original Donna Karan (DKNY) Fuel for Men, which has been discontinued, and even the “new” version is hard to find. Maybe it was the fact that your search didn’t include musk, but I’m going to try to find that one and test it.

I’ll definitely update as the search continues.

Actually I did include musk. When I was writing the post, I glanced up at my Google search box, musk was off to the right and out of view. In fact, it’s still there in this window. Heh…

Some people confuse musk with some resins like Labdanum or Myrrh, both of which are in the Prada. Unless the salesperson was reciting from a list of fragrance notes provided in the marketing materials, she could have just been confused.

I saw the DKNY original, but discounted that since it’s discontinued. Mall stores likely wouldn’t carry it, unless they had some really old stock they were trying to offload. Another one I saw was Usher, but it didn’t have all the notes.

Anyway, good luck!

Well, if it’s the one from Usher, then I’m SOL. I’m allergic to something in it, severe headaches. Same with the entire Polo line.

I’ve been seeing a lot of great reviews on colognes that have amber in them, and it looks like it has the right notes. Who knows, that may be even better!

Found it. It was never mentioned on any of my searches, but after telling the ladies at the desk what I was looking for, they went straight for it: Givenchy PIe. (I put that because I can’t put the symbol and the forum bots keep wanting to put Primal Instinct) And damn, it does smell like sex on a stick without beating you over the head with aforementioned stick. Very smooth, the layering is excellent and several hours later I can still smell it where I sprayed. Best of all, I’m not allergic to it. Be interesting to see how it blends or covers the Instant Shine.

For the record, they did not have the Prada. Others on the list, either because it matched or it was just highly recommended on a lot of forums and reviews: Dirty English (didn’t have), Burberry London (possibly discontinued?), LaCoste Essential (smelled like soap and deodorant to me), Kenneth Cole Black (yuck), Ralph Lauren Romance (instant allergy), Obsession Night (didn’t have), and Armani Code Sport (bit too “brisk” but not bad).

Well, it’s been almost a couple of weeks. Curious to know if you wearing it had the same effect on your female friend.

Givenchy P i

I actually bought this many years ago, and over the years I’ve had about 13 bottles of high quality cologne

Givenchy P i had a really nice smell, I really liked it, it was one of my favorites, and it wasnt too strong hit you over the head with it either (but not weak either)

If I remember correctly, it has kind of a vanilla scent right? If so, then thats the one of thinking of

For sex appeal, Im thinking of buying another bottle of Jean Paul Le Male as I think my old bottle has expired or something, that cologne seemed to have a manly scent I assume would be good for sex appeal to women

Do you mean P i ? as in “π”?

I’ll have to look for it at Sephora it sounds interesting

Yes I mean P i as in π

I wrote it with spaces as otherwise the forum software kept auto-converting the word to Primal Instinct heh, i.e. Pi

So I found my old bottle of Givenchy P i and put it on my left wrist, it smells nice, it does have the kinda Vanilla smell

This is the bottle I have: Pi by Givenchy (1999) - Basenotes Fragrance Directory

I note that they have also come out with a new version called Givenchy P i Neo or something like that, because I was given a whole bunch of samplers for it

The funny thing was when I was given the free samplers, I was all shaved showered and dressed nice, and wearing pheromones when I went to pick up my bottle of Issey Miyake and the lady at the counter kept talking to me, then ended up just dumping her entire stock of Givenchy P i Neo samplers into my bag, like tons and tons of them, all for free, way more free samplers than I would ever need or she was supposed to give out lol, all for me none left for the other customers lol

Funny thing is while wearing pheromones I went on a different day to buy cologne with my sister and a gay guy was serving us and he was very keen to talk to me, and my sister said she thinks he likes me lol

Heck once I was wearing pheromones + jean paul gaultier Le Male on my wrists and this gay/bi guy tried to literally suck the cologne/pheromones of my wrist lol! and he invited me to dinner at his place to have sex with him and his beautiful wife lol I had to decline because he was involved, if it was just his wife that would have been fine lol

I’m not gay, but these two guys seemed to be affected by something (probably the -mones) when I was wearing them, as nothing like that has ever happened without wearing pheromones

It wasnt just the pheromones though, because i was near the end of completing the Demonic Confidence program, a practical exercises program designed to massively boost your confidence, the combination of my massive sky high confidence levels + the pheromones + being dressed very well, well groomed etc lead to me being a magnet of sorts. I even went up to the really cute/hot bartender and looked her deadpan in the face and said “You’re cute” (I meant it) whilst holding full unwavering eye contact, full of confidence, after afew seconds of her holding the eye contact she smiled and said what would you like, free drink on the house

Back on topic, - I dont know if Givenchy P i is the mystery cologne Perspective10 was looking for, but I sure do like its smell its not to overpowering/intoxicating like some colognes can be, but it isnt weak either

hmm oops, reading the whole thread I see “ound it. It was never mentioned on any of my searches, but after telling the ladies at the desk what I was looking for, they went straight for it: Givenchy PIe.” that it IS the cologne he was looking for lol

Its definately one of my favorites of the 13 bottles of high quality colognes I’ve owned/have

Jean paul Le Male seemed to have a more masculine manly perhaps even sexy masculine scent, but sometimes I found it abit too strong/overpowering/intoxicating for me - I might try less of it on

So I just put one of the givenchy p i Neo samplers on my right wrist, and it smells abit different, noticeably lighter perhaps, though I dont know if my samplers have expired/chemically-changed by now as I’ve had them for years lol

hth

Givenchy P i**, P i Fraiche, or P i Neo**? There is no PIE, but the other three are listed.

I think P i Pi by Givenchy Cologne, Eau De Toilette For Men, 3.3 fl oz - product summary - Bing Shopping is the most popular, and none of the THREE listed vanilla, sandalwood, suede or musk as any of their ingredients.

You will find it is the same, and you can find it written as both when you search for it.

I was scrolling through the “Smell-alikes” that The Fragrance Shop offers, and I ran across Pi Neo. It’s described as:

“Pi Neo was launched in September of 2008 by Givenchy. Inspired by the character Neo in The Matrix movie, this scent is a complex combination of Bergamot, Manderin, Toscanol (Anise Note), Cedar, Safraleine (Leathery/Cedar Note), Cosmone (one of the 1000 new synethetic Musks now available) and Vanilla.”

I know Perspective10 said he found what he was looking for in the regular Pi, but the description above pretty much matches what the girl at the counter first described.

I use Marygreenwell perfumes,it gives a great smell of joy and lasts a long time,it provides online shopping also, you can try this friend…
