it would be great if we could buy the bottle with your spray head so we could roll our own and maintain a consistent dosage study. Like the cobalt blue galss too. I’d order a few with my next round if you have 'em.
I would agree. I haven’t seen a spray bottle yet, but I know from past experience how difficult it is to find dependable atomizers and/or dispensers. And I really am not too fond of those expensive, pardon the expression, “girly” atomizers I see sold at perfume stores. A good basic spray bottle would be wonderful. Of course a nice “manly” pocket atomizer would be nice too, as well as some sort of “dauber” bottle for products that don’t really suit being sprayed.
Hi Robert!
The “dabber” bottle is easy enough. Any place that sells essential oils has them in both cobalt blue and brown and in various sizes going from 1/4 oz to 3 or 4 oz (or maybe even larger). I personally use cobalt blue for anything that is alcohol based and brown for anything oil based.
For a no-brainer place to find some - Bath and Body Works (at the mall) in their aromatherapy section of the store.
As far as atomizers are concerned, I agree with what you guys wrote.
Can we find these with your atomiser caps ?
I love the idea of knowing that there will be an identical amount of spray as an Androtics product, that’s why I’d look for exactly the same volume in the bottle and quantity of spray. Plus the spray top is well engineered. Many atomizers are very poorly made, unreliable, leaky, and INCONSISTENT !
i’ve had reliable spray results with the blue bottles and the clear experimone bottles as well. one thing i really like is being able to get a half spray, for example i have the spaceland 50mcg and in some situations a half spray works great when i don’t want the mix to be -nol based but would still like to add some and have a consistent ratio to work off of for future mixes.
on a side note, i have TAF 5mcg and yesterday tried pushing the envelope a little and used 11 sprays (yes, 11) between chest, neck and wrists, and if i try that again and even up it to around 75mcg’s i will have an extra bottle in no time ![]()
anyway, it sure beats dropping an alcohol based product onto my finger tip and trying to hurry and apply before said product runs down my finger, all over my hand etc only to end up getting smeared on my clothes, hair, anywhere really in order to avoid having that drop be a complete waste.

what else were you wearing? what did you think? TAF does seem more manageable in lower doses (for everyday wear at least!). did you find much reaction from other people?
since it was my first time trying that much TAF i made sure to test it on myself first, during a time when i was going to spend a few hours at home. i wanted to be aware of any personal effects and possible scent side effects before i hit anyone else over the head with it. i was only wearing TAF at the time, so nothing else contributed/took away from this test.
i did a little un-biased self awareness check prior to taking that bath in TAF and tried to stay conscious of my mood without becoming influenced by the desire to have the same effects as others have reported.
there is one remarkable effect, that being that on 2-4 occassions over the next several hours i noticed what can best be described as micro-bursts of euphoria. whether they were due to that much TAF or the fact that i am moving back to the caribbean very soon i don’t know. when i say micro-bursts of euphoria i mean the kind that come from completely out of the blue and make you want to jump up and pump your fists in the air as if your team just made the kick that won the super bowl, but gone just as fast.
one reason to attribute them to TAF is that on each occassion, they came from nowhere, completely out of the blue and at a time when i wasn’t thinking about anything particularly pleasant. probably due to the fact that they had no substance, they were gone just as fast but they were there at least.
Thanks for the hint about Bath & Body Works. I think there is one about 30 min away from me. We have a terrific lack of stores in my area that sell things like EOs or even the “perfume” atomizers. The one “alternative/health food” store in town had zip EOs (a long-empty display was all they had left… and no plans to buy more). The same mall with a B&BW has a Perfumania where I found a few atomizers available. But I grow weary of driving from store to store (especially with current gasoline prices) trying to find decent sources of EOs, colognes, good empty bottles, stc. Even our local dollar stores, of which we have many, have little at all in terms of this kind of stuff.
I’d welcome hearing from any and all about where they have found things like EOs and other supplies like atomizers, roll-ons, daubers, bottles, etc. Either “brick and mortar” or internet. Good quality and reasonable prices too, and one that accepts smallish orders. I really don’t need to buy in gross-lot quantities.
Thanks
That was fast.. the store has bottles… but the spray heads ?
that’s the ideal combination for me, using your standard spray head would allow a broader application on clothing or across skin, especially where fragrances are concerned, and it would be useful to calculate the dosage as well, assuming 200 sprays per bottle… if that is correct for your new empties on the web store.
Great ideas here. I agree with most of them.
How much do the cost at Bath & Body Works?
I gave the go ahead to add bottles with droppers (which give an average of 38 drops per ml with our diluent), glass droppers individually, and bottles with spray heads (they give an average of 200 sprays per 30ml bottle without our own diluent).
Be aware that # of sprays or drops per ml is highly contingent on the diluent used.
What I think I’ll do is offer an upgrade to the plain bottles with our diluent mix. Make sense? Maybe a buck more or something.
I’ll do it as close to cost as possible, because I think experimenters should be encouraged, but I have to take in mind the % the affiliate program can take, and a bunch of other little costs. We also eat shipping costs a bit, actually more than a bit for FedEx, since we subsidize FedEx out of the profit in an order. I have to take all that into consideration.
I have had good luck with this website http://www.snowdriftfarm.com/
I don’t know if they are the cheapest, but with EO’s I suspect you get what you pay for. Small orders are OK. They also have nice things such as “perfumer’s alcohol”. Very informative website as well, which is always a good sign.
Also, check out their link called “Packaging”.
Michael, as far as these bottles and sprayers are concerned, I wouldn’t worry about it. Just add a mark-up - seriously!
Alright, I shouldn’t speak for all of us, but as far as I’m concerned, this is a hobby. Just the convenience of being able to buy the extraneous supplies in one spot (without having to worry about shipping charges if I went somewhere else) is worth it. And Robert is right, these days we definitely do not want to be driving around.
It can be a fine consumer source for some things, but ironically, NOT for perfumer’s alcohol. Big red flag on that.
I’ll tell you why.
First, they put isospopyl alcohol in there. That’s just disgusting. That’s the cheap “rubbing alcohol” you’ll find for under a dollar at any drugstore, and it’ll ruin any fragrance.
Then there’s isopropyl myristate, the primary purpose of which is for dermal penetration. Do you want to wear your formulas on or under your skin?
No perfuming company on the planet uses a mix like this. They’re likely selling this to another market (bodybuilders come to mind) under the guise of perfuming.
Good perfumer’s alcohol is denatured almost pure ethanol (SB39C or SB40B), with a little bit of purified water. Distillers that make vodka and brandy sell off side batches to the perfuming industry. There are also distillers which make nothing but nearly pure alcohol for this purpose.
It’s tough buying any substantial quantity of real perfumer’s alcohol without a BATF license.
High proof vodka (over 100 proof) and super high proof “Everclear” will be in every way to superior to the non-perfumer’s alcohol at Snowdrift.
The other supplies should be fine.
Yeah, I know what you mean, but you know how I overthink things. ![]()
I just don’t want to discourage experimentation (or get fleeced by FedEx should someone order a bunch w/o other products).
We can really have a revolution in mixing here and “rolling your own formulas” here, and I want to encourage that.
No matter what, they’ll be cheaper than the bottles you find at the mall or Whole Foods. I’ve seen empties there like ours that were something like $7.99. With absolutely nothing inside, that’s just obnoxious.
Mister Harris … has anyone ever requested PLASTIC instead of glass for the empty spray bottle?
Glass makes me nervous when it comes to holding something dear.
Yes, I’ve dropped and broken a few. ![]()
I bought an atomizer from LS and it had a glass vial inside which broke when the atomizer fell out of my pocket. ~$50 worth of mones gone. I didn’t like that one bit. But, the glass bottles Androtics uses are thick, and I like them. Plastics, I suspect, are resisted because they can potentially interact with the liquid contents chemically or leach things into them.
There are different “types” of plastic, some are softer and more forgiving than others and could stand a few falls. But just about any container that gets dropped enough or on the “wrong” surface can get damaged. (Whether the stone hits the pitcher, or the pitcher hits the stone, it’s going ot be bad for the pitcher… -line I remember from musical Man of LaMancha.)
There are types of “lab grade” plastics that are resistant to chemical interaction. If I recall one brand/type was Nalgene (been a while…). Not cheap, but you might be able to find it from someone on-line, probably even on eBay or the like.
A nice thick-walled exterior atomizer would probably help protect the inner bottle. The L-S atomizer, although nice, was not all that hefty, nor are most I’ve seen at the perfume or other retail stores. Again, maybe somewhere on-line for a high-end atomizer, or eBay…
Not sure about metal bottles. Those spun aluminum ones they sell for camping to hold water or latern fuel might be non-chemically interactive enough. I’ve seen small, almost pocket-sized ones at some camping stores and I think at places like Target. Not going to be the atomizing type though.
I wonder if reusing a nasal spray plastic bottle would be ok. It just crossed my mind while reading this thread…
Edit: it’s a glass nebulizer bottle with the plastic upper part…
