Men's Cologne (Ladies opinion please)

that site is scary.
i popped in my sign (aquarius) and it described ALL woody-mossy-earthy scents i would normally gravitate to. i was pretty skeptical going in,too.
Bizarre…

I just gave the site a try and it came out with a list of 22 most of which I’ve never really heard of… (At least I recognized Joop! and D&G…). A lot of citrus scents (so I guess the neroli EO is a good idea for me).

Will have to take the list to a parfume place (if I can find one around here that is still in business) and give them a try. Or find a place that will sell/offer samples. Or hope MHarris offers decants.

No “Dollar Store” scents darn it… ($179 RRP… Woof!)

oh wow interesting site! thanks bro.

I could be wrong Rbt, but isn’t that site in AU dollars?

Only one of those is anything like I (Aries) would wear and the seven (only seven?? He owns about 80..) Colognes/Eau De Toilettes recommended for “The Man’s” Star sign of Pisces, are NOTHING like he wears.

Could be because both of us are on the cusp, but go figure…

Ail

What with the “au” in the URL, I would think so. Currently 1.3302722595 AUD per US $.

Anything over $1.98 in US or AU or maybe even HK dollars is a shock to me…

Before I had known about this site, I’ve always liked really fresh, out of the shower , fruity scents with a little bit of musk in there…

And as it turns out, this site recommends me all the same types of scents. i guess these scents just naturally describe me and the type of person that I am.

NFS

PS: cute pigtails Lor

Bar none, hands down, no competition: Geoffrey Beene’s ‘Grey Flannel’. Makes me melt.

Kashana

Gray Flannel remindsme of my grandfather. He used to wear that all of the time. Nd my dad..old spice (lol). I personally love Eternity for Men. I used to even wear it on myself. Drakkar Noir and Cool Water are pretty good too!

Now that I have something of an income I’m gonna have to try to order that $50 sampler pack from that perfume website mentioned elsewhere that I think I still have bookmarked somewhere in my browser from long ago…

Problem is it will take months to properly sample them all… <sigh>

I have a weakness for Green Irish Tweed on a man. YSL M7 can be very sexy if dosed lightly. Montale Black Aoud is great on anyone … Donna Karan Black Cashmere smells better on my husband than on me … very cedary. One of my favorite scents to wear myself is Angelique Encens and I would LOVE to smell that on man … probably no one that daring lives in Minnesota though! Marlene Dietrich, you say?!

Rbt - go to basenotes, to the swap & sell section, and buy a few samples of the REALLY good stuff. If you find one you like, you buy often buy decants from the same people.

I love perfume and cologne. I am a big fan of “shared” fragrances that can be worn by men or women. Here are some of my favorites for men:

Serge Lutens Chergui, Ambre Sultan, Muscs Koublai Khan, Borneo 1834
Frederic Malle Musc Ravageur
L’Artisan Timbuktu
Thierry Mugler Angel Men (AMen)

*Most of the fragrances that I love are dark, rich, oriental type fragrances that have to be worn in small amounts. Double-true for Angel and Borneo 1834.

I have a huge aversion to some of the synthetic notes like aldehydes, certain “marine” notes, and some white musks. These are all present in huge quantities in scents like Acqua di Gio, one of my most-hated fragrances of all time. These notes smell disgustingly metallic and dry to me. They hurt my nose.

My favorite note is musk, and I have never used any animal-origin musk. All the musk that I use is vegetal musk, such as from ambrette seeds or synthetic.

Other favorites are vetiver, amber, oakmoss, and woods. I hate patchouli when worn in excess, but in certain scents as a base note it is extremely well done (A*Men, Borneo).
