Moon Phases and Pheromones

Reading these forums made me think about my own natural pheromone signature (the one I have without adding these products, that is). Anyway, I’m sure it affects the way girls respond to me in clubs. Although I get rejected a lot (which is why I’m on this site), I also had a number of fun nights in clubs. The “fun” would consist of different things: a drunk makeout on the dance floor, getting many hugs throughout the night, or just having girls compliment me on how I danced. I have a good memory for dates, so I know pretty well when these nights happened, at least the most memorable ones (read: wildest).

When I looked at an old calendar, I found a surprising fact. On each of those nights, the Moon was in one of the waning phases: waning gibbous, third quarter, or waning crescent (go to Lunar phase - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia to see the phases). Conversely, most really bad nights happened on or a few days before a full moon. I didn’t see a pattern with other phases, so I can’t comment there.

I know observing the Moon patterns is considered geeky in some circles, but astronomy is one of my interests, so oh well. Anyway, this brings me to my question: can the Moon affect one’s pheromone signature? And when I buy these products, will it affect them as well, since they work with the human body? After all, if the Moon strong enough to cause ocean tides and make dogs howl at it, the effect on pheromones isn’t out of the question. I don’t exclude the possibility that those wild nights were simply coincidences, but it still makes me wonder. I’m still new to this pheromone thing, so if this question sounds crazy, I don’t blame you for thinking that. Either way, let me know what you think.

Interesting observation and a great question that you posed. Unfortunately I doubt that any of us can answer your question with any kind of statistics or accuracy. Pheromone science really is still in it’s infancy. Many scientists still think the whole concept to be hogwash.

However, slowly but surely headway is being made. It’s been proven that women, when grouped together over a period of time will sync their menstrual cycles and that pheromones are responsible for the phenomena. We know that humans do have a VNO, but most scientists still believe it to be dormant. We have clinically shown that some pheromones do have a direct and detectable impact on the brain.

In time, your hypothesis might just prove to be true, but for now I believe that it’s just something to ponder over.

However, I’m going to check back, because I think Tisha will probably stop in and have something really interesting to say.

It’s not a crazy question - it’s an interesting one which seems to tie in with a couple of issues on the forum. For one thing, androstenone’s effectiveness with women is said by many to be correlated with the menstrual cycle, which in turn is said to be correlated with the phases of the moon. But there are important caveats with this, I believe, such as the fact that the latter correlation seems to be weaker in urban areas - places with a lot of artificial, 24-hour lighting. This suggests that the psychological and physiological aspects of the “lunar effect” are modulated by something like the intensity of the night-time light that is reflected at different times of the lunar month.

But re: tides - the gravitational effects of the moon are only strongly apparent on very large objects like the Earth itself. It is the differential strength of gravity between the side closest to the moon and the side furthest from the moon that is responsible for the tidal effect. On the other hand, for most of our history the moon has been the strongest source of night-time illumination, so it is reasonable to hypothesize that humans and other mammals are indeed affected by it… (I suppose, among other things, a full moon is a bonus for a nocturnal predator with some visual capacity, and a time to be extra vigilant for the nocturnal prey too!) Whether 24-hour-lit urbanisation offsets these effects and how much is another interesting issue.

it affects mine

also,not for nothing

imagine too that if it can be proven that the moon phases can affect anything in the body (fluids,emotions,w/e) all those things can in turn affect pheromone-output.
so indirectly.

When I was a cop, we used to see a marked increase in violent crime in the week leading up to the full moon, as much as 10%. Several poice forces in the UK now alter their shift rotas to provide increased cover at this time. The human body is mostly water, particularly the brain, is it really that far a leap to hypothesise that there is a tidal effect within us? I’m sure we are all aware where the word lunatic has it’s origins.

The more I pay attention, the more my theory turns out to be true: when I go out during one of the waning phases of the moon, I always end up having an awesome time. On Valentines’ Day, when I had no date, I went to a singles’ event that night. Before heading out, I put on some Ammo and IO. I also looked in the night sky, and saw that the moon was in the third quarter phase. Given my past experiences, this was another, albeit small, reason to go out and test my new pheromones. But the main reason that it was better than sitting in my empty apartment.

At the singles’ event, I had some MASSIVE hits. I danced with two middle-aged women simultaneously, got compliments about my dancing from a girl who was a great dancer herself, and more. The best hit was when a girl gave me her phone number within just ten minutes of meeting me. She was pressing up against me right after I started dancing with her. Then during one song, I showed her a few swing dancing moves; she looked at me with affection in her eyes like I taught her the meaning of life.

A part of me thinks the moon phase thing are just coincidences, but they happen every time. The effect seems especially strong during the third quarter (when the left half of the moon is lit up). Does the waning moon (as opposed to other phases) create some sort of gravitational field on Earth that makes me attractive to girls or makes them attracted to me? It could still be a coincidence, but happens each time, so something is gotta be causing this.

Yes the lunar phases effect our biorhythms. Of course its not really proven scientifically but those of certain beliefs have known this for centuries.
