I thought about abbreviating the below, but then I thought, it’s my fucking journal! I can write what I want! If it’s too much, I understand, but it’s great, detailed pheromone research. Take it all in baby! Thanks for enjoying my journey with me!
Thursday, January 22nd:
1.5 sprays MX135 behind my ears/down neck and jawline
.5 spray of MX135 under my nose
2 sprays of IS: 1 to either half of my forehead/temple
1 spray of IS to the top of my head
1 spray of IS to the back of my hair/neck
2 sprays of IO: 1 to the back of each hand
D Day! Time for my big meeting/event! I woke up excited! About 5 minutes before leaving the house (about 45 minutes before the event) I put to use the knowledge of the prior two days. I applied 1.5 sprays of MX135 behind my ears; letting it drip down my neck a bit and then pulling it toward my jawline. I let this dry before applying IS high on my neck. 1 spray to my left and another spray to the right side, below the MX135. I sprayed 2 additional sprays of IS; 1 to the top of my hair and one to the back of my hair/neck (I’ve got a bob so it usually lands on my hair/neck equally). I did .5 spray of MX135 under my nose. I put lotion on my hands, and then applied 1 spray of IO to the back of my hands (thank you FuzziKitty). I put on a coconut Caribbean scent that pairs nicely with MX135. If I use a perfume, I always (try to) spray it on my clothes and not on my skin. I only spray the mones on my skin. I took the IO with me (TOGO) because I am an incessant hand-washer and I knew it would come off at some point.
Time to go to work baby!
I walked to the event (again which is very common in this city). Even a 30 minute walk isn’t really bad as long as it’s not freezing cold. Besides my jacket I wore a lightweight hat which covered my ears, and actually still had some IS/MX135 residue on it from the day before. (side note: MX135 has some staying power when it comes to fabrics. I have this shirt that I swear I have washed 30 times, but often have worn MX135 with. Every time I put it on I get whiff of MX135?it?s kind of amazing!). I also wore gloves, which is another reason I carried the IO TOGO. I actually wore one glove simply because it was hard to navigate my phone with both on. As I walked I felt good. I was happy, feeling friendly, and smiling. Since it was early there were plenty of people walking on the street. It’s kind of a college town so professors, students, and professionals alike hustled the streets as I made my way to the meeting (which was on the campus of one of the local colleges). The first person I ran into was a man (whom I noticed as I past appeared to have down syndrome ? he carried the trademark physical characteristics associated with the condition). As I past I smiled, said good morning, and continued walking. I’m not sure if he was going in my direction before I past, but he certainly was after I walked by. While he did not respond to my morning greeting, as I walked, he walked in step with me. If I slowed down, so did he, and I sped up, he did as well. He was walking a respectful distance I guess, but he was close enough to catch my scent(s) and I could see him out of the corner of my left eye. He was with me for about two blocks before disappearing ? I assume he crossed the street somewhere along the way.
I caught another gentleman’s eye well before I was in his path and he gave me a kind smile and followed me with his eyes as I walked past ? in a non-creepy way. As I came to an intersection, the man whom was already at the cross made eye contact well before I was within conversational distance and nodded his head with a simple ?Hello.? I said a simple ?Hi?, and crossed with him. At another intersection, a lady standing there made extended, expressionless eye contact. I looked back a few times to assess whether it was positive or negative, but got no read whatsoever. As I crossed the campus I made eye contact with every person whose path I crossed. I am generally friendly, and do speak to people, but there’s never a day when I make eye contact with everyone! I smiled at everyone, some said hi, some simply smiled back, some nodded, some said nothing. It was a mixed bag. I did notice most guys spoke, while the variant of people who did not speak were mostly female.
Distinctly significant are hits that occurred at a particular crossing. I was at the cross of a busy, 4 lane, 50+ mile an hour, one-way street. I was the only person standing on my side, with about 6 people on the other side. Now, let me preference this by saying I am no stranger to busy cities. From NY to the Las Vegas Strip to London to Chicago, I’ve been a pedestrian in the best of ?em. Generally, when you’re at a crossing, people are looking around at the buildings, messing with their phones, checking traffic for a moment to sneak across, etc. Not this time. Being the only person on the one side, with multiple people on the other I exchanged a long glance with each person. I was downwind or upwind, or whatever the fuck it is when the wind blows from my direction to theirs. Lol. I literally made extended eye contact with each person across from me. Even being the only person on the other side waiting, there were plenty of people walking behind me and plenty of other things to divert their attention. This event is significant because one particular gentleman (second from the left) never broke eye contact. I was so amazed by this I (guess) I never broke eye contact either. I was trying to read him. He wasn’t weird, or mean looking, just intrigued. At some point I caught someone beginning to cross the street out the corner of my eye, and as it natural, a few started walking too. Instinctively I did so too, still keeping eye contact with the guy as we moved closer to each other. I decided to throw him a smile and when I did he smiled back and looked away, almost blushing. I heard a lady, crossing in the opposite direction say, ?Ooops.? I was in such a trance trying to read this guy I didn’t even notice the street wasn’t ?ours?, and as I walked the final 5? across the intersection I noticed I had stopped traffic. LOL! I have uber blonde moments! Trust me! LOL! I hurried across the street, and hopped on the curb. Delightfully even in morning rush hour no one honked! Did my IS hit all the drivers of the city too! LOL. Just kidding!
Having never been on this campus before I got turned around, and thus paid a bit less attention to my surroundings. I found a building and walked inside. Having not been in the city all that long I’m not sure I have pulse yet on the general demeanor. When I go ?into town? if you will, I’m better at judging the crowd. That being the case, I’ve learned to let my mones ?go to work!? whenever possible. If they can precede me and set the tone, I’m all for it. That said, as I entered the building I unzipped my jacket and fanned a bit, ensuring my mones reached the receptionist before I did. I paused a moment, to make sure they reached their destination. He smiled. Gotcha!! ?Hi. May I ask you to direct me to XYZ building, please?? ? I was raised properly with impeccable manners, which I use most of the time. ?Of course. Blah blah blah.? He smiled again. I said thank you and he smiled while watching me exit the building. I zipped my coat back up ? it was cold as shit after walking for about a half hour. I followed his directions, which were prefect. I came to a gated/guarded pedestrian area, and noticed a guy in front of me who seemed like he was going to the same place I was. The event started at 9:30 and as he exited his car, he checked his watch and the sign to ensure he was at the appropriate place. I sped up just a bit so I was close enough to him that I could sneak in with him, possibly unnoticed by the guard. He greeted the guard by name, and as the guard returned the greeting I quickly also said ?Good morning!? and hurried past in step with the gentleman. The guard shack was open just enough that I know he caught a good whiff of my mones, as did my cover guy in front of me. ?Well, good morning,? he said. ?Morning!? I said. A student passed at just that moment and said ?Good morning!? Weren’t we all just the happy bunch! LOL.
The guy was going to the exact building (and meeting) I was going to. I stayed in step with him the whole time, trying not to be creepy, but trying to appear to passersby that we were together. As we entered the building, he unzipped his jacket and presented a badge and was immediately let through a turnstyle by a guard. ?Damn!? I thought. How are you going to navigate this? ?Excuse me. May I help you?? said the guard. Mones go to work baby, I thought! I unzipped my jacket, fanned a bit, took a deep breath indicating I had walked quite a distance in the cold, pulled of my lone glove, and leaned into the guard.
Ever so sweetly, ?Good morning. How are you today??
?Good and you?? he said.
?Just fine. I’m here for the 2015 Annual XYZ Day.?
?Well, right. Are you a student? Do you have an invitation??
?No, but I was personally invited by Dr. Badass and Mr. Smith.?
?But you don’t have an invitation??
I presumptuously and purposely began to fill in the visitor log with my information. ?No, but I was personally invited to attend.? He instinctively began to peel off a visitor’s sticker and proceeded to hand it to me. (Thank you Dale Carnegie)
?Right. Do you have some sort of letter or documentation??
?Of course. Just give me one moment.? I pulled out my phone and showed him the last email from Mr. Smith which stated he had talked to Dr. Badass and they would love for me to attend.
?Oh, ok then. You do have a personal invite don’t you.? He jotted a few things down on a sheet of paper and asked me for my name again. ?Well it’s right behind me on the right. It’s going to be a special event.?
?I hope so. Thank you!? And I hurried through the turn style before he had a chance to ponder what just happened.
?Enjoy!? he yelled as a hurried to the meeting room.
The event was held in a lecture hall which seated about 200 people. There were about 80 people in attendance.
When I entered the lecture hall there was a speaker at the podium. There were two people (1m, 1f) on the steps leading down to the seats. I decided to stand. I fully unzipped my jacket and immediately noticed glances from the two on the steps. Another lady walked in from the other entrance and stood rather close considering where she entered. She glanced over and smiled. After about 15 minutes the speaker concluded, and as he answered questions I made my way down to my seat (which I had picked when as I stood waiting). The seat I selected was about 4 rows up on the left-hand side of the hall, directly in front of the podium. It wasn’t optimal for viewing the presentation as seats on the right-hand side and in higher rows had a better vantage point (this will be significant later). I didn’t notice her come in, but a lady who apparently entered behind me came and sat right next to me. She smiled and said hi. Now, to give you a lay of the land. I selected a seat which put me one seat away from a lady already seated at the end of the row when I entered the hall (less the women who chose to sit right next to me), there was one lady directly in front of me, and one guy directly behind the lady at the end of the row. I had about 4 people within a 6ft radius. I’m not quite sure of the diffusion distance of mones or whether it is dependent upon the size of the room; I have to guess that has something to do with it. I note my locale and the people around me because it will become significant later. I also note that the only time individuals changed seats was during session breaks ? not after each speaker.
In this first session I received the following hits:
- Guy seated at the end of the row behind me (effectively two seats over one seat up) gave me awkward glances every now and then. They weren’t pleasant, but I later learned that appeared to be his normal demeanor.
- Lady next to me was very fidgety. Like a child in church daydreaming about the playground. She shifted left, right, crossed her legs, uncrossed her legs, smiled, and seemed to hold her fingers to her mouth as if preventing an outburst.
- The lady directly in front of me began twirling her hair and fidgeting a bit.
- Nothing noticeable from the lady at the end of my row, although I couldn’t observe her properly with the lady between us.
During the session break:
- I noticed while in line for refreshments people in front of me turned around quite a few times and smiled. I said hi and smiled back, but no one ever said anything to me. They talked happily among themselves.
- I had to use the restroom, so after washing my hands I sprayed 2 more sprays of IO, one to the back of each hand.
- Everyone was very nice during the remainder of the break. I got lots of long glances, smiles, and friendly hellos. Oddly enough, no one really engaged in conversation with me. However, I did stand out from the crowd with my bright green visitor’s sticker on my chest. Everyone else had a credentials. Even though I stuck out a bit, still no one fully engaged.
During the second session ? after application of 2 IO (2 hours and 1 handwashing after initial application):
- I was blown away by the seating shift. As loose items I only had with me my backpack (yes I carry one) and my jacket. I carried my backpack with me between sessions because it had my personal information in it, but left my jacket draped over the chair where I was sitting. With the exception of a male and female who were already seated in the row in front of me, I was the first to my seat.
- As the session began (and let me remind you there are 200 seats in this hall, and about 80 people in attendance ? plenty of empty seats), people seemed to fill in around me.
- The lady who sat directly in front of me before reclaimed her seat, next to a woman she apparently didn’t know. She introduced herself to the woman and started talking incessantly. The other woman couldn’t get a word in edge-wise.
- Directly to her left sat two males who were not there previously.
- The lady who previously sat next to me did not return, but the lady at the end of the row did.
- The guy behind her returned, and shot me a quick smile before quickly returning to his characteristic, awkward demeanor.
- Directly behind me now sat three characters who were previously one row above (2f, 1m)
- Most notably, the lady who sat directly behind me (who I noted played for my team ? GirlsONGirls?lol) repeatedly too deep breaths. She inhaled deeply as if sniffing me or enjoying my scent ? Rock on bitch, I thought playfully! ? I smelled my MX135 + IS, I loved it, and rustled my hair every now and then just to hit her with a bit more.
- Additionally, the lady in front of me (chatter box) was one of the speakers ? Ooops! OMG! When she got to the podium she seemed flustered. I saw her during the break and she seem like a poised individual. She was a bit red and said ?um? an unprofessional amount of times while at the podium. Now most of you would say, oh, she’s nervous talking in front of people. Before jumping to that conclusion let me remind you I was in the big leagues. The work she was presenting was a topic on which she has spent the better part of the last 2 years, plus, this is part of her profession. National security remember, not rookie officer in NYPD reporting on traffic conditions on 35th and Lex. I’m pretty sure the freshly applied IO got to her.
- I laughed to myself a number of times during this session, especially at the lady breathing deeply behind me. She kept doing it. I thought she was going to cause herself to pass out! Lmao!
- At some point two guys in the row in front of me left (one later came back), and a lady (who smiled at me as she sat) and guy sat nearby ? again, there were a million other seats.
*10 people chose to sit within about a 6ft radius of me (I only counted one row in front & behind me so it may have been a smaller radius than that). Ratio 6:4 male to female then 6:5 male to female after 1 guy left.
During the lunch break:
- I again stood in line (for lunch) and the people in front of me (different this time) kept looking back at me and smiling. I said hi, but no real conversation. The lack of conversation may have been heavily weighed on me simply because, again, I was a bit out of my league. Some of these people have been in this industry longer than I’ve been alive, and while I’m intelligent, I don’t have the expertise they do. Needless to say I guess I was a bit intimidated about carrying on conversations about topics which I have general knowledge, but very little experience.
- After grabbing a few things I settled at the end of a table, a good place to observe. The conversations were abundant and free flowing. Most conversations were industry related so I listened and picked up ?nuggets?.
- I noticed a speaker (Speaker X) I was particularly interested in coming down the run as she selected her lunch items. Remember I told you I was fearless, as intimidating as I knew the moment would be, I decided to speak to her. She mentioned some things in her talk that alluded to her and I having lived/worked in the same area. After she settled with a group she seemed to know well, probably her team, I moved in close and listened, nodding, and engaging myself in their conversation. Everyone was receptive to me being there, and one guy (French) kept intense eye contact with me as he spoke.
- Speaker X broke away for a moment, and as she did I pounced. I asked where she was from and we began chatting. Once she got going she talked about home, life, politics, culture, and her travels. Oddly enough she spoke very little about her work ? I was thankful for that as I wasn’t really interested in her work as much as I wanted to make a networking connection. It was a fantastic conversation, and through it I discovered she actually worked at the University ? score! She invited me to stop by and see her anytime. I re-introduced myself and thanked her.
- I had to use the restroom again, and thus had to wash my hands again. I washed them a bit more carefully trying not to get water on the back in the area where I sprayed IO. After washing though my hands were dry, so applied lotion which was scented. I didn’t want to mess up the vibe I had going on, so I shared 1 spray of IO between the back of both of my hands. No mas, I thought!
During the third session I decided to switch things up a bit. I figured, for the sake of research, I would change my seat, not drastically, but just enough that if the number of people around me was anything similar to the last session, I would know I was on to something (1 additional spray of IO 5 hours after initial application and 3 hours after 1st reapplication and two hand-washings):
- Craziness! I moved my seat 3 seats (from seat 3 to seat 6).
- I won’t give exact positions of anyone other than the 3 people who sat behind me previously (Ms. GirlsONGirls) also moved down; they added 1 male they knew to their group. In fact, Ms. GirlONGirl insisted they move down and she ended up sitting behind me again, one seat over. She didn’t repeatedly inhale deeply this time.
- The only other person I noticed, probably because I’m gay as hell and she was rather cute, was a female who had previously been two rows behind me and about 10-12 seats down. She moved and sat on my row about 3 seats down from me on my right. If I didn’t have a gf I would have gotten her number. (Shit, I might get it anyway ? ?I?m networking baby. It’s just business.?)
*13 people initially chose to sit within a 6ft radius of me. Ratio 8:5 male to female. Three more people came, totaling 16 people that chose to sit within a 6ft radius of me AFTER I moved my seat. Ratio 10:6 male to female. Only 4 of those 16 were repeats from the previous session, and everyone who sat near me was in the earlier sessions previously seated somewhere else. The left-hand side of the hall seemed to remain in the same configuration of people.
During the final break:
- The lady who seemed uncomfortable that sat right next to me in the first session (I hadn’t seen her since that first session) came up to me out of nowhere. At first she didn’t know what to say, and just kept nodding her head. I spoke and she asked me what team or group I was representing. I explained as clearly as I could that I had gotten a personal invitation, but would be associated come this Fall, hopefully with the local University. As soon as I told her I wasn’t ?one of them? she, ?Oooohhhh.? She smiled, nodded, and turned her attention to one of her colleagues. Lmao! Ok lady, I thought!
- That incident turned me off a bit. I continued to smile, but made a phone call and returned to the hall before the final session began. I contemplated changing my seat again, but I figured it would skew the data so I kept my ass still!
- I noticed Speaker X was in the room, but clear on the other side. She glanced down and smiled at me a few times. I smiled, and tried not to make further eye contact, although I noticed her looking at me a few times.
Final session! (No more applications of any pheromones. I did use some alcohol based hand sanitizer, but on the front of my hands only, avoiding the area where I sprayed IO). This is 7 hours after initial application. Self-effects of the pheromones are far less intense, but I can tell they’re still there. Plus, no matter how much you love any topic, 7 hours of meetings, speakers, and presentations starts to wear on you after a while ? mones be damned!
- The hottie who sat 3 seats to my right in the previous session was gone ? fuck! LOL. I actually didn’t see her at all.
- The group that had been stalking me was still around. Still in the row behind me, they shifted one seat down, and Ms. GirlONGirl actually sat one row up from them.
- The same cast of characters (slightly diminished in number because it was getting late) surrounded me, but in slightly different configurations, mainly because 2 of the guys were involved with the keynote address so they sat closer to the end, but still in the row right in front of me.
- One guy who had been on my count the entire time, but always in the same seat in the row in front of me now sat 2 seats down from me on the same row.
- Other than that I didn’t notice anything significant.
- I had been looking for Dr. Badass and Mr. Smith (whom I had to thank for my last minute invitation) the entire time. I tried to read name tags, but none of them were they guys I was looking for. Someone called Dr. Badass out by name to thank him for organizing such a great event and brining people from all over the world to speak. Boom! Found you! Yes!
After the session ended I approached Dr. Badass but was cut off by a speedy talking fellow. I went to go grab a card and some material left by some of the speakers on the podium. I approached Dr. Badass again, but was again cut off by another guy. Fuck! Finally I just shoved my hand out, in a friendly manner, and said Dr. Badass, my name is Random Future Badass. He remembered my name by email which is amazing because as unique as my name is, it’s so damn hard for people to remember. He apologized for the 5th degree I was put through, but thanked me for reaching out and attending. I thanked him, and let him know definitively that he would see me again in the future and I hoped to possibly work beside him. He welcomed me, and told me he’d be following me. Oh shit, I thought! I have a way of making an impression, and then being forced to maintain it. Boldness is bittersweet.
I decided to walk home instead of taking transit or a taxi. It was a good time to reflect. Since it was cold as hell I zipped up tight and put my hat on, again with one glove. No real noticeable hits on the way home. I even stopped in the store to grab a few things. The only slight hit I got there was from a guy in the aisle who seemed to follow me a bit. I was cold, tired, and mentally exhausted so I paid no attention to him whatsoever.
When I got in the house my gf, who missed me after being away all day, gave me big hug. She’s slightly taller than me, so I always notice when she nestles her nose in my neck. She did and said, ?MMmmmm.? As much as she doesn’t like the MX135 when I initially spray it, mixed with my natural body odor she loves it!
In conclusion, this is a great mix for social events and events where you may not know people. You feel good, confident, friendly, and open. And others are nice, smile, and get that chatterbox effect if you engage with them. If you loathe chatterbox then just spray less IO. But IO on the hands is magic! I might try some other mones there in the future.
Until next time…
