newb with glace and LSchemset, questions about mixing DIY oils

hey guys and gals,

I’m a noob here, ive been playing around with glace for about a week with no significant results at one spray, moving to 2 this week to see how i go..

I also bought the LS chemset which was admittedly a rookie mistake, but im stuck with it now so might as well start mixing. i have tried a mix of mones using jojoba as a carrier with questionable results. got a lot of attention from people at a music festival, but people are generally more open at those events so cant really gauge the effectiveness of the mones.

so here are some questions i have if anyone wants to answer.

1.when making an oil, is mixing mones into DPG enough? or do you need an alcohol too, in order to disperse the mones?
(the reason im going for oils over sprays is, PA or concentrated ethanol is hard to find in aus)

  1. so i have a 5ml roll on bottle that i will use for oils. what does a typical dab/dose from a roller look like? im trying to work out how much im applying, so as to work out my mcg dose for notes.

  2. any of the following would help

-threads with examples of homemade recipies of single molecule combos
(i have rone,none,A1, and nol to work with)

-what are the typical terms people use when writing about their homemade recipies, i.e. “DIY,homebrew” etc.? (again, regarding single molecules)

Thanks in advance guys!

Hey pnaut,

To try to answer some of your questions - I’ll have to say I have not done much with making my own pheromone oils, but I am actually a chemist so hopefully this will help you :slight_smile:

  1. DPG is a good base for dissolving the pheromone molecules. You could use oils like jojoba if you want the extra spread, but be careful of your concentrations. If you’re starting with 1mg/mL, make sure that you aren’t using so much carrier oil/diluent that you’re ending up with an extremely low concentration.

  2. One good way for you to test this would be to fill your 5mL bottle with just the carrier oil or DpG, weigh it, apply it a few times, and re-weigh your bottle. We do this in my industry for use-up tests and it can help you determine what “dose” you really want. Since your weight would be in grams make sure you have the density of the blank oil or DpG so you can math wizard how many mL you are applying. That way with your base mone in DpG (mg/mL) you will know how much to dilute it.

  3. People usually refer to them as mixes, checking the men’s journals forum would be a good place to look for homemade recipes - however, it would be a good idea for you to test out the effects on your own without any bias before exploring those journals :smiley:

Hope this helps!

thanks lawlercopter, weighing is a great idea to work out ml/dab.
D=M/V right?
my math is more than a tad rusty, so how does this sound?

Va = volume applied (10 applications)

Ma = mass of 10 applications, (original mass - remaining mass)

Va = Ma/D

V of individual app= Va/10

Sounds great to me! That will get you the information you need.
