Sad news - tacitus

My condolences.
May you rest in peace.

Yea I heard the news just yesterday. Very very sad news. He taught me (and many others) so much. At least we have his insightful posts still around enlightening people. Truly a great loss. My condolences.:frowning:

May his perceptive words inspire us all to reach greater heights!

Clearly one of life’s explorers, who shared his experiences and enriched my understanding through his posts.
He has left his mark.

I’m quite late here as I just noticed this thread. I had been wondering where he went off to. On the advice of Steve, I started researching into Tacitus’s theories and observations. The man had such a unique and interesting method of observation and his posts were always interesting and insightful. While I never got to know him, my condolences to his family and hopes that he’s having a blast where he is now.

For some death is a tragedy and for others its a form of release, who knows what he was going through during his darkest hour.

Rest in peace you will not be forgotten

I moved and stuck Olfact’s beautiful memorial poem to the Pheromone Theory Section on tacitus. I will start adding links to all his threads and posts there. I think it is important to keep a record of his community participation: https://pheromonetalk.com/t/our-friend-tacitus-rip-12-2010-a-compilation-of-brilliant-and-exhilarating-posts/44612

OMG I’ve just read this post. I didnt know Tacitus had passed away. I am so so sorry to hear this. My prayers are with his family. I know he’s in heaven now. It wont be the same with out him.

I am in utter shock.
He has impacted so many lives through this forum and I am sure outside of it with his literally unlimited knowledge and wise quirky words.
It’s like the end of an era. May he rest in peace.

I am also shocked. He has been a true sage of this forum. His observational and imaginative talents were unmatched. Truly one of the most unique personalities here. He will be missed.

From what I have seen tacitus was a kind and intelligent person he’s in a better place now..

I wish I had gotten to know him..

Rest in peace

Rest in Peace.

He was in his early 50s.

I just read this now.. I didn’t notice this thread :frowning::frowning::frowning:
this is really bad news.. he was such an inspiring person..

RIP tacitus..

gone but still with us in spirit.. always in our thoughts and prayers

It looks like I have been more disconnected from the pheroworld that I realized I was. I have just heard about this and am very sad at the loss of Tacitus. I know that he didn’t contribute much in the last couple years, but the groundwork he has laid out, not just for pheromone use, but for personal development as well, is more than significant, more than amazing, more than incredible. I wouldn’t be the same person today if I hadn’t read what he had to share with the world. I know I am not the only one.

Being a curious person, I wholeheartedly wish that he had more time in the day to share his experiences with us. Unfortunately it is a fact of life that we all only have 24 hours in a day, and Tacitus was the amazing person he was precisely because he spent his time living, rather than on the computer, typing away.

Tacitus, you will be missed and I will continue to take to heart your advice that you have so graciously shared with us. Good bye, rest in peace, and we’ll see you on the flip side.

Sincerely,
Phya

(Also, I noticed the archives of his posts, I think his posts must be preserved with care. If we lose his thoughts, we may never have a chance to recover them, as no one is guaranteed to bring to the world what Tacitus has given us.)

Wow. I stumbled into the forum for the first time in a long while and found this. Very sad to hear. We all benefited greatly from Tacitus’ advice…not just in terms of pheromones but his general outlook and insight in life. I can’t say I knew him personally, but his deep understanding of pheromones and his ability to unravel the intricacies of their effects was clearly backed by his experiences as a person. He had a mastery of not only pheromones, but of human interaction itself…and that isn’t something you can fake…even on the internet.

I was in my early 20’s when I was active here. I had a lot to learn (and still do!), and benefited greatly from each and every one of his posts.

PS…quick hello to old friends from here!

Constant state of flux… growth accelerants… processes inside of processes… powerfully generative… powerfully transformative encounter… very difficult to remain in non-productive loops of solipsistic self-referential life crap… capacity to meaningfully connect…

I learned a get deal from you my friend. About life, about how to think, about being human. You were the one among us who had the best chance to lift the veil, to pierce the illusion that is this everyday life, to see beyond and emerge beyond this chrysalis shell that is our shared social illusion.

Thank you for allowing us to share in your journey. As feeble as it might be, I will preserve your words as wisdom. And I am among the few who appreciate that you were able to spend some years of your life helping to keep Austin weird.

I admit to being long gone. I was seduced again by my mistress, The Road. I’ve recently returned home and visiting my old tribes, find among other things, who was born and who died.

I will throw one back and howl at the Texas moon for you. To mourn our loss… and your gain.

Adios Amigo!
