Sick from DPG

Hey,

I’ve tried a few different mones. Any time I use anything with DPG, especially on my skin, I get sick. I’ve been using other fixatives and my own mixes made from single molecules purchased elsewhere and mixed together.

I was wondering if it was possible to get a putative from AD without DPG. Even the unscented version which costs over $50 extra has some DPG slipped in. I’m literally sick of the stuff.

I don’t know why this happens. I know DPG is supposed to be safe. Maybe it’s skin penetration of mones due to DPG or maybe it’s the DPG itself.

Any help?

Thanks!

They use like 2 drops of DPG per like gallon. I highly doubt at that small of a concentration its the DPG. It just doesn’t make sense.

More than likely its something else like maybe alcohol or Neroli. You should test some stuff. I also would be very careful of other fixatives. Most are safe, but what some companies are out there using are quite toxic to humans but they didn’t bother doing the research. I’m not going to call anyone out but yeah I read some stuff and cringe like oh wow that’s a known carcinogen. Its not just mone companies its suppliers selling it as a fixative. I’ve seen it in soap, lotions, perfumes and all sorts of stuff. Just because it doesn’t get you sick doesn’t mean its not bad for yah.

This is not to undermine your illness, but merely to get you to think about some other things that might be happening to make you sick. I used to think I had an allergy to an EO, but turned out it was something completely unrelated that I just happened to be doing at the same time each time I wore the EO.

I suspect that many fixatives have surfactant properties which would increase the rate of skin absorption. You don’t need much dishwashing powder to effectively dissolve an oil, for example. And androstanes have the capacity to move transdermally even without something to accelerate the process.

I do often get bad reactions from most colognes so I try to be careful about sticking to essential oils with known ingredients. I’m still trying to get a good source for purple heliotrope to replicate one of my favorite gourmand scents. But this is something else. I put the stuff on my hand and I can feel a little extra stiffness in the joints of my hand, among other issues. So it’s not totally scent related.

I’ve tried fixatives like monolaurin + mones which is even supposed to be edible + alcohol and even that was less than helpful, to be honest. I suppose I’ll retry alcohol + a fixative like monolaurin without anything else to see if that can replicate the issue.

Thanks for your help.
