I’ve always been into perfume, so naturally I’ve tried many many different kinds.
I’ve noticed that sometimes people don’t care much for what I love.
I love Clinique Happy, Moschino “I love love,” and Estee Lauder “Pleasure” but they don’t seem to make a whole lot of difference in men or women.
However, whenever I wear my Dior J’adore “fresh” (not the gold bottle, the silver one) I manage to get some sort of attention from both sexes.
The strange thing is I don’t particularly like J’Adore fresh that much. I don’t dislike it and it smells nice enough but it really doesn’t get make me feel like I smell great. With Moschino “I love love,” I felt like I smelled sooooo good.
I bought pink sugar today because so many laides here use it as a cover up, but to be frank it is too sweet for my taste and I think it is giving me a light headache actually.
I will test drive the perfume alone tonight (as I haven’t gotten my pheromones yet).
I dont wear scents I dont like no matter how much someone else likes it on me. I will refrain from wearing some that I like if my husband is annoyed by them but he hasnt really complained yet about any of them.
Tastes differ and there is no right or wrong answer to your question, wheather you should wear fragrances to please others or yourself. I’d tend to favor pleasing yourself, but it’s good to try new things. Try a fragrance a couple times before you pass judgement on it, your opinion might change. Also, vary the “dosage”.
Interestingly enough, of all the fragrances you mentioned, J’adore Fresh and Pink Sugar get the least negatives (on Basenotes reviews), and the others tend to get more negatives (just doing a quick search on Basenotes).
Fresh fragrances tend to have alot more aldehydes and relatively new chemicals (calone, ultrazur, etc.) in them that are synthetic, that’s how they produce some of their inordinately light or fresh effects above and beyond the natural smells. For myself, some of them are headache inducing even in relatively low amounts. You can get used to the effect sometimes but it might also cause headaches in other people.
Fresh fragrances are popular right now, and have been for some time, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they are good, it just means tastes have changed. If it weren’t for alot of synthetic chemicals, these fragrances would be impossible because alot of natural fruit smells do not have such long lifespan, whereas alot of synthetic fruit aldehydes and ozonic smells are quite potent and last longer (calone actually has a blotter life of over a day, for instance, whereas natural lemons only last a few hours). Another popular scent now days is “green tea accord”. This is also totally synthetic. You can find it in alot of fragrances like CK One, and again it lasts a long time. This makes modern fragrances relatively linear because all the notes last so long compared to natural scents
