“Now, what about the OTHER area to measure? Do we dare? !!! I have only found that the Gay Men’s personals in the 1980s (I used to live in SF, so these were in all the periodicals before the days of the - gasp - internet, Was there such a time, grandma?) did they include THAT size and their SOUGHT AFTER size range. Sigh. If only that were considered polite for ladies to do, I would SO include it!”
You are terrible I think that’s another thread; board and possibly entire forum lol
More than a little body language comes from “height-shifting”.
Tilting your head back raises the crown of your head and increases your apparent height (but then you are ‘looking down your nose’) and authority.
Shrugging your shoulders (especially Gilligan-style) covers your (vulnerable) neck and is a quasi-submissive gesture (making head seem lower on body).
Bowing is truly submissive by lowering one’s torso so that you can become half your height; nodding your head in agreement is a token submission.
*]Slouching versus attentive stance versus aggressive stance – how tall/big you are is a social signal.
My so is about 5’3 or 4. I am 6’ All I know is that when we spoon it is like God made us to fit together. Like everybody part is in the exact place that it is needed for perfect comfort and pleasure We both agree on that
I’m 6.1 and I just turned 17.. im average in my country - but everyone believes that my time of growing is still about to come.. my dad is around 2 meters (dunno how many inches) and I dont want to turn out as high as him.. how would you rate my height.
You’re a lucky one, Flip. I’m pretty much done growin’, it’s safe to say, and I’m not exactly leaping tall buildings in a single bound.
I was talking to Liev Schreiber the other night and he was actually complaining about his height (6’3"). Boo hoo, Liev. Boo freakin’ hoo. I’m like Gary Coleman next to that guy!
A DARLING and attractive hght in a man. Height = Sense of Protectiveness often for how a woman FEELS. We melt just a tad with that. It’s like getting to first base without even having to try. Lol!
I dont think you will grow to much taller Flip, maybe a inch or two. My son stopped growing around 18 and he was disappointed he is 5’10 and thought he would be over 6 feet because of our family history. My father is 6’4 and my brothers are 6’5 and 6’7 but there not skinny and lanky. They stopped growing in their upper teens as well.
My sister and me stopped at 5’5 but all my cousins used to tease us and say we were gonna be as tall as our brothers and we were pretty worried about it as kids.
My husband is a perfect 5’10 which I love I dont get a crick in my neck when I talk to him like I do with the rest of my family.
Great to hear, Steveo! I’m 5’10" and was slightly worried about this. My spooning range is rather excellent, though. Also, a man can make up for lack of height and the resultant demise of his “aura of security” by having some quality pipes flexes. A birdie told me so .
Definitely taller than 6’…if height were the only object, that is. I am 5’ 10" and it is awkward to date a man who is shorter than me. I really prefer someone who is 6’ 2" or taller.
However, height is not the only subject to be considered. I married a man who is 5’ 10", same as me, because of his tender, strong, generous, patient, capable, interesting, sexy, caring personality.
For me it’s all about big & tall guys… My shortest boyfriend was 6’3" and it’s usually guys above 6’2" or so that make me take a second glance
I’m 5’6" myself but I still want to be shorter than my guy when wearing heels. Not sure why really, but I think it’s that it makes me feel more feminine, and I like to be able to snuggle up and feel protected by a big guy
I’m 5"7 and I’m fine with anything taller than me…it would be nice if he is still taller when I’m wearing heels, but if not…hey I’m cool with flats, that means less sore foot for me
It’s an undoubtful fact that women prefer tall men… or, at least, men who are taller than them. That can’t be denied and there’s nothing we can do about it.
Men have their preferences as well considering some of women’s physical characteristics.
I’m a short guy (5´6´´) and I know from personal experience that a short guy must be A LOT BETTER than other men in several other aspects in order to be given the same importance (in what concerns attraction, that is). Being better is just not enough…
The idea of a stronger man appeals to most women, but even that is quite subjective. I mean, I’m stronger than 95% of guys in my gym (and allmost all of them are taller than me). I can lift more than 95% of them. I have a muscular body and I love working out. Still, women will always assume “taller/bigger means stronger” and they get really surprised to see the weights I can lift when compared to other men.
I’ve dated 2 taller ‘chicks’ in the past and it didn’t feel awkward (well, both of them invited ME, so I’m sure they were pretty much ok with that).
But in all honesty I gotta say I feel kinda repulsed by women who give that much importance to height. It’s like some guy saying “I would never date a girl who weights more than X”. That’s pathetic (in my humble opinion). Putting everything in just ONE particular physical feature is too much futile for my taste. But then again, that is just my opinion.
The question of this thread was specifically about height, not what type of guy you find attractive.
I never said height is all that matters, it definitively isn’t. I wouldn’t even put it on my “top 5” of desired traits/characteristics of my “ideal man” because there are other things that are more important.
Yes, so far my boyfriends have all been tall, but that doesn’t mean there’s no way a shorter guy couldn’t come along and sweep me off my feet. The height thing is only one of those first impression things and part of a stereotype for what I normally tend to go for, but that doesn’t mean it’s set in stone.
And if you think that’s shallow and like if a guy would say “I would never date a girl who weights more than X”, well guess what? A LOT of guys say that
Bottom line… The height thing is just a preference, and we all have different preferences.
