What’s the difference between The Game and the Mystery Method? I have red the first few chapters of the mystery method, and I would like to know if they say different things..
Thanks for the help ![]()
MM is a “how to” book.
The Game is a storry about a guy who become one of the best pua’s in the world.
I would recomment that you start reading The Game before you read MM. The Game is also the story about how Mystery Method(the method, not the book) was developed.
So The Game does not actually teach how to become a PUA, it just is like any other story? (real life ofc)
MM is extremely hard to learn!!
I’ve been in the Pick Up community for about a year now … and I’ve seen about 80-90% of the guys who starts crash and burn… (that is, stopping before the got any result)
The Game contain a lot of the same information that MM but just explained in a different way.
The top two reasons to read The Game is:
You’ll see what is possible
You’ll see how hard it is to learn (note: Style didn’t even kiss a girl before he had been in the Pick Up community half a year).
I wouldn’t even bother with Mystery Method to be honest
Look at Real Social Dynamics - Inner Game beats Outer Game any day in my opinion
Outer Game with all its routines and tricks tends to get guys f’ed up if they aren’t confident in their own attractiveness beforehand… makes em like robots
(Outer Game is essentially Mystery Method)
However… take the Stylelife challenge (book by Neil Strauss) if you have approach anxiety… I found that useful
Wrlprchnx, has a point!
Inner game is way more important than outer game …
But I most say … inner game is the slow road … and imo it is easier to work on inner game when you have women in your life …
That said … NO ONE !! have ever made a pick up system that work for everybody !! Not Mystery, not TD, not Style, not david d …
Bwt … the best advice is … stop reading and go out talking to women ![]()
You have The Mystery Method already so keep reading it. All this stuff about stopping that and reading something else is going to give you permission to not finish that something else too. The Mystery Method is comprehensive and will cover what you need to know. The key to all this is finish what you’ve started. Go out and get that area in your life under control.
No offense but we all make excuses of why this or that doesn’t work. How this system wins over that system. What it all boils down to; excuses! Again I stress that you finish what you’ve started and get out there and work it out. You wont know if its going to wok for you unless you do it first. It takes time and you need to work at it.
Mystery Method is the best intro to what it’s all about. Like Steve said stick with it.
I’ve read both. I started with the Game which I enjoyed but didn’t learn a great deal from but then got Mystery Method and learnt a whole bunch (still learning in fact). I think the game makes some of the concepts easier to understand but it definitely isn’t something you need to read first.
I don’t think the Mystery Method would make you robotic unless you are stupid enough to follow it like a robot lol. It can make you too in your head though trying to analyse the situation (Is this comfort or attraction?) but after a period of internalising it and ‘calibrating’ it becomes natural. I don’t treat it as a method but rather a book that can offer you an understanding of female psychology. My success is improving all the time with woman and I’d put it mostly down to be able to see the signals a girl will send. It’s not all about inner game because if you’re blind to the signs a girl gives you then you’re missing opportunities imo.
I read neither…so cannot tell you which is good or bad
i can give you my simple advice in a nut shell:
-
always smile
-
eye contact
-
make her laugh
-
be confident
-
do not be afraid of rejection
and this always has worked for me…never really needed any books
In “The Game” you read about some different pick-up approaches (including MM) and examples of how they might work. MM the book is an in depth breakdown of the method. Its better to learn concepts rather than the material. For example, when conveying DHV through stories, don’t use any of Mystery’s stories. Instead, break them down and see where the DHV spikes are and how they are used. You have to be congruent with the identity you are conveying. That’s where inner game comes into play. It’ll be much harder conveying your value if you are trying to be someone you are not. Inner game is the core, but outer game is just as important. You need to convey your “S and R” value and the material is the way to do it. As Mystery says in his book, canned material is good because once you’ve memorized it, you won’t have to think about it and can focus on strategy in the field. There is a line between this and becoming a social robot though. TD was portrayed as such in The Game; he had no personality of his own and the game was all he thought about.
Once you understand how the method works, you can swap out components while adhering to the basic structure. Maybe you can perform an NLP gambit (read chapter in The Game on condiment anchoring) as a DHV. etc etc
Strauss’s book with the stylelife challenge is called “Rules of the Game” btw.
All in all, all these methods are sets of behaviors for you to try on. If they don’t fit, don’t wear them.
I don’t mean to add more confusion to the topic, as I can only agree with Steve regarding sticking to what you start. However, after looking at all the various seduction schools of thought, I’m more inclined towards David D’Angelo’s Cocky & Funny philosophy. I’m the class clown of the group, and it fits my personality style, which I personally think is an important thing to consider. I read the MM and the update, The Venusian Arts, and while the material is comprehensive, it just doesn’t fit me. In order for me to make it work, I’d have to become something I’m not, and I’ve never been good at “faking it til you make it.”
More specfic to the thread, however, I agree with what everyone else has said. The Game is more a look at seduction, while the MM itself is the how-to, so reading both in that order would probably prove most beneficial to you.

Thanks again to you all,
Wrlprchnx, I didn’t really understand, what is inner game? I understand the concept outer game, but you say that book helps you build up inner game?
Steve, your right, I should finish the book, but like dhh said, you have to be comfortable with what you use, I mean all of what the MM sais is really not my type, I can’t see myself going and doing all what he sais over there, its just not me. Like data4 said also, I am also bad at “fake it ti’ll ya make it”. So that’s why I asked for some opinion on some other book.
Ive read the first half of MM and Ive just pulled little bits and pieces out and added to my own unique method, just as everyone has their own method.
If you copy it word for word it might not work for you your personality. Deffo worth reading imo helped me with my approaches I used to be too obvious, too forward “Can I buy you a drink?” too many times ive bought a drink to see the girl disappear into the dancefloor/toilet never to be seen.
Although the whole “Negging” technique my friend takes way toooo far im 100% positive he hasnt read MM as he just outright insults girls and calls it flirting. My favortie of his is “Where you from luv?” “(insert town/city/county name here)” “Oh bad luck.” I actually once had to calm a girl down on holiday as she was ready to slap him. I mean fair to him he has his fair share of women but tbh they are all thick as shit.
But yeh stick with it at the end of the day even if u dont use at least you’ll gain some extra knowledge.

Paul Janka is better. Paul Janka is WAY better. He’s absolutely the best I’ve listened to. I’ve listened to David D, Mystery (i think he holds back too much. i’ve got too much to say about his theory.), some Neil Strauss.
Paul Janka is real life, he thrives on street game (get in, get out with the number), gives you advice on pretty much everything. He has real experience. Youtube him.
