PHEROMONE: 2 sprays Ammo (World scent, regular strength)
I had a first meeting with a trans man (female to male) for a game of pool. He’s an organizer for a group of trans men who meet regularly for pool. Not being trans myself, I wasn’t able to attend these pool sessions, but I did ask him if he’s willing to play pool with me since I’m always looking for fellow pool players.
I chose to test Ammo solo just to see how a trans man would respond to it.
OBSERVATIONS:
When I messaged this guy (55 years old), I suggested we meet at a gay bar that has a pool table. I figured it would be a relaxing, non-threatening environment. I arrived first, and when he showed up, he seemed very happy to meet me. He had a very big smile.
We chatted a bit and soon got to playing pool. His pool skills were quite good, and immediately I felt a bit intimidated. I even knocked the 8-ball in mid game, so we started another game. I regained my composure and managed to be on par with him. We both ended with only the 8-ball on the table. Despite having knocked in all of my balls in first, he swept the table, knocked the 8-ball in and won the game. Throughout the games, we talked and joked around a lot.
After that, we got something to drink and talked some more. The conversation was very smooth and easy flowing. At one point, I realized I made a serious faux pas. I had assumed that he was gay. He has a girlfriend and identifies himself as straight. Oops! I did some backpedaling and managed to save face. (In my defense, nearly all of my male friends are gay. For the past several years, I have rarely socialized with straight men. That’s just out of circumstance from working alone at home rather than choice. My association with straight men are usually for business rather than pleasure.)
Anyway, he wasn’t offended and simply laughed it off. But we started talking about relationships. He was very fascinated about the arrangement I have with my husband. He also opened up about his arrangement with his girlfriend and some of the misgivings he has about his relationship.
We continued talking, but eventually I mentioned that I had to leave to meet a friend, but we still talked about relationship stuff. Thirty minutes later I mentioned again that I had to leave, which I finally did. We exchanged phone numbers and agreed to meet again for pool.
ASSESSMENT:
At least in this situation, a trans man who identifies as being straight, Ammo was very acceptable. He was eager to learn more about my situation and relationship with my husband. He also opened up about his relationship. In fact, we could have talked further into the evening if I didn’t need to meet another friend. Conversation with him was very smooth.
Had I not made the silly faux pas of assuming he was gay, I would have actually chosen different mones to wear. In my experience, I have often had difficulty striking conversations with straight men when I’m wearing Ammo. But, this seemed to be a worthwhile mistake. It didn’t affect him adversely. If anything, he seemed open to Ammo and talked very freely and openly, especially meeting someone for the first time.
I wouldn’t go as far to generalize that Ammo is OK to wear around trans men, but at least in this situation, it worked out fine. I don’t know any other trans men personally, but I would like to experiment with Ammo a bit more. It’ll be interesting and a long process because I’d need to determine if the person identifies as gay, straight, or bi. This may or may not make a difference in the overall effect, but would still be useful information. I’ll also see about wearing Ammo around trans women.
