I’ve been using pheromones for the past several weeks, and it’s time for my first journal entry. A little background about myself? I’m a middle aged gay man. Came out when I was 17. I tend to be on the masculine end of the spectrum; so many times people don’t realize I’m gay. (I’ve disappointed many women over the years.) I’m also SE Asian descent. Between working out regularly, sporting a Mohawk, and having a darker complexion, I have a fairly badass exterior, which can catch people off guard. But really, I’m a poet at heart.
I’m also in a rock-solid relationship of 18 years. The Man is 52, and we got married in 2014, so that was a 17-year test drive. We have an open/poly relationship, and we’re extremely transparent with each other about our activities. No secrets.
I’m also self-employed and work from home in the country. That means I don’t have much social interaction during the day. On some days, The Man might be the only human I speak to. So my interest in pheromones is mostly for self-effects and speed up the courting process when I meet a guy for potential dating.
MY FIRST EXPERIENCE
Prior to finding Androtics, I used an oil-based product (G-3) that contains androstenone (10 mcg/drop), androsterone (5 mcg/drop), androstenol (5 mcg/drop), and androstadienone (5 mcg/drop). It’s supposedly formulated for gay men to attract other gay men. It seems to be a similar formulation as other “alpha” products out there - high proportion of -enone. In fact, the product has a similar scent to TUTH. (I received just a week ago. I’ll write more about it later.)
Not sure what makes G-3 suitable for gay men versus straight men. What works for straight men to attract women should work for gay men to attract other gay men. But, it seems to works well. The Man used it at work a few times (1 drop to his neck) and noticed that a few younger male customers were rather flirtatious with him and he had higher sales than normal. Since he’s 52, he didn’t mind the extra attention from younger guys in their 20s.
The first time I used it, however, I OD. I used three drops of it and went to my poly support group. About 80% of the folks there that evening were first-timers, and I literally ghosted. I usually introduce myself to first-timers, and one guy was really reluctant to shake my hand or give me eye contact. Another guy shook my hand, smiled, and turned his back to me. Seriously, guys that evening didn’t want to talk to me. They even blocked me from speaking to the women in the group.
The people I knew at the group treated me as usual. I guess they were able to get past the different scent and treat me as like they always did. The new folks gave me an entirely different reaction. Of course, since I was in an -enone cloud, I didn’t care what people thought. I figured it was their loss that they didn’t want to talk to me. Assholes.
TWO WEEKS LATER
Here’s where it gets interesting. At the next meeting, two weeks later, I decided to wear one spray of Ammo (2x) to my neck and two sprays of IO to my forearms. They had just arrived the day before, so I figured this would be a good test.
A few of the new folks from the previous meeting were there. One guy said, “Hey, did you just get that Mohawk? It looks good on you.” This was the guy that shook my hand and turned his back on me! Another woman said, “Is this your first time here?” No, I’ve been attending regularly for the past 9 months! She obviously didn’t recognize me from 2 weeks before, even with my Mohawk. It’s really hard to miss.
Later that evening, she and I had an incredible conversation about our trials with poly relationships. We had such similar experiences we couldn’t stop laughing. It was like we had already known each other rather than meeting for the first time.
So in the future, I’ll avoid strong -enone products. The poly meeting can be intimidating to first-timers. It’s really a support group and not a place to hook up, but many don’t know what to expect, especially when they’re coming out as poly. I’ll make sure to wear more social rather than sexual pheromones at these meetings. Ammo would still be appropriate in low dose (1 spray of 2x) because of it’s well balanced with social pheromones.
