Mix calculator 3.0: software for calculations to create your own mixes

I have decided to share my mix calculator with everyone who wants to create their own mixes but finds the maths a bit too involved and is looking for a software to make the calculations easier. I shared this calculator with few members at Pherotalk earlier and received good feedback. I am pretty satisfied with its performance and think its error-free and very easy to use. Here is the link for download.

http://rapidshare.com/files/115907736/Mix_Calculator_Installation.zip (http://rapidshare.com/files/115907736/Mix_Calculator_Installation.zip)

After downloading, please unzip the folder and run the “setup.exe” file which will install it in your program directory. Now start the mix calculator from your list of programs in the start menu.

If it gives any error when starting, then check the file “Other files needed.txt” in the unzipped folder. This file gives links to two microsoft downloads, one for Dot net 2.0 framework and other for Office11 web components. These are probably missing from your computer so you will need to download these files from the links given and install them. Try the mix calculator after installing those files. Now it should start fine.

There is a help box with instructions for using the mix calculator on the bottom right corner of the software. If you have any questions about the steps please drop me a line at Pherotalk or my blog and I will gladly guide you through it.

Will try it soon  rep tomorrow when i can give out again

Does it work for product with different mcg per spray?

What is .net framework?

Thx a lot for the great idea

Yes it works for products with different mcg per spray.

You can also use delivery from to-go bottles (0.125 ml/spray) or full size bottles (0.15 ml/spray) by changing ml/spray.

I think the features will be pretty easy to notice once you have it installed and running in front of you.

You can read about dot net framework here. .NET Framework - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (Microsoft .NET strategy - Wikipedia)

What it means is that currently the program can only be run on Windows based computers.:stuck_out_tongue:

I have instralled those two downloads.
Too bad I still get this error message “The application requires that assembly office Version 11.0.0.0 be installed in the Global Assembly Cache (GAC) first. Contact your system administrator”

A search for the error message tells me that I need O2003PIA.EXE but then it tells me to install Office 2003 :frowning:

Followed instructions and program downloaded fine. Thanks nbully…reps!

is it mac friendly? :o sory… im always the odd one out out :frowning:

bond

answered my own question… nope :frowning: damn… reps anyway for u

bond

bond007 - i’ll port it over later in the day for ya. alright? or u can try using Crossover or Wine or Boot Camp or Parallels to run it

hey nbully - u got the components before it was compiled to an application? some of us here (including those using office07) can’t open it up…

Have OSX here too :frowning:

When’s the linux version coming out?

Nevertheless - great work nbully! Thanks for sharing!!

oh mine. there’s a huge array of users here, and i can’t open the calculator out without Office 2003, specifically.

anyone who has got it running, care to do screenshots and say, perhaps explain the formulas?

Hey deriw, did you try installing the office11 components from the link mentioned in the file “other files needed.txt”? I remember when I tested it a while back with another user, he had the same problem where he had Office07 installed on his computer. He could get it running after installing those web components. Give it a shot and let me know.

Hey bubblebob, do you exclusively use linux…I hear there are ways to run windows programs on linux and vice versa, maybe one of the computer exeperts can help you out with that.

Hey hellfire, I am running the software on two of my computers, one of them has office 2003 and another has office 2000. It runs fine on both after installing the office11 web components. It’s strange it doesn’t work on yours, cause really the software doesn’t require very many advance features just the Excel plugin. I hope someone with more computer knowledge than myself can help you out.

nbully: yep. tried that, still no-go. its a clean install of xp
actually, as far as i know, for office03 web components to be present, either the user (if he is running office07) must be “upgraded” from 03, not a fresh installation, due to requiring some office03 libraries..

tried both running the setup file, and also the application files directly in the folder

Yes there are. I could try with Wine which is a Windows emulator, but seeing the dependencies I doubt it will work… Well, I’ve wanted to install XP in a virtual machine under Linux for some time now - guess now I have a good reason to…

Sorry to hear it doesn’t work for you deriw. I made a post on my blog (the most recent post) about my email exchange with another user who was having problems getting it to run on his computer and how he was able to fix it. My experiences with the sense of smell
Maybe that will give you some tips. Otherwise I am at a loss.

Cool, let me know when you can get it up and running.

Do you know how to add images (screenshots) here on the forum? Formulas are in the code and not on the spreadsheet itself so they won’t be visible though.
I can explain the formulas or send the code if someone wants to really create it by themselves and fails to make this software to work. But that is hard(er) work and only to be used if you have some programming experience with dot Net and Visual Basic.
