Should I date him or not?

Guys are weird. They often have this thing about not knowing where they fit in anymore, at a deep level, now that women are supposed to be viewed and treated as equals.

Guys often are taught to deal with women in ways that don’t work, by other women. (Mom, grandmother, previous girlfriends.)

Guys are often treated badly by women, and learn to be either cold and heartless, uncertain of themselves, or erratic in their responses. It’s the same in the other direction… nobody’s winning the “Battle of the Sexes”.

Guys are human too. Humans are stuck in these limiting bodies, and f they’re not educated properly about the importance of communication and how to be pro-active about both receiving and returning it, there is often mis-communication and misconception, which turns into feeling threatened by the woman.

I can tell you that I personally admire strong, aggressive intelligent, educated, and tall women. All things that usually threaten a man’s self esteem and sense of self worth. But you put me in a room with a woman who makes me feel inferior intellectually, and I will either start picking her brain like mad or run like hell. The latter response is usually to the ones who are so far above me that I feel like I cannot bridge the gap. Fortunately for me, such women are extremely rare. lol

The point is, if you felt threatened in your self image by someone, why would you want to be subjected to that all the time? Maybe he’s insecure, but when you think about it, he’s no more weird than you and I.

Okay, maybe just you, cause I’m pretty weird sometimes.

i think we need more pics to decide

I think that’s part of the problem, but in the opposite way than is usual… Er, yeah. :o

Anyway, this guy is just way more interested in plain Jane superficial girls with very little to say as far as romance goes. It sucks as I would never have guessed him to be so.

Less threatening? Hmmmm. Maybe he is just looking for a boring doormat who’ll do anything he says and pick up his dirty underwear, and do his pedicure. Many guys prefer that sort of thing in a girl, it makes them feel more “manly”.

I would hope he didn’t feel she was threatening because of not doing those things… If anything… i would think he felt threatened by her strong will, her confidence… Not that those are bad things. Some guys have distorted images, everyone finds different qualities “sexy” based on their OWN qualities. He may not have those qualities in him and the fact that she does may scare him away. Which just goes to show… he’s not worth her time.

Good point!

Hmm, well I think the guy has decided to give up on me. I’ve been slowly and subtly making it obvious that I don’t want to date him. Now I’m not sure who to like…not that I need to like anyone lol. But I hate thinking of it as the fact that I’ve been single for over a year. I don’t think it’s that I’m too picky as much as it is that I have standards and I haven’t been enough guys to find those standard.
sigh I guess I’ll just keep dreaming about Mr. Right until he comes. For now I guess the only thing I can do is get myself out there and meet more new guys.

That’s how it works.

Hehe, I have to say, if that is you in your profile picture, you are very pretty, HappyKitsune!

sigh I was raised Southern/Independent Baptist and I can tell you right now that a lot of people like that have the whole “a kiss leads to sex and sex before marriage will send you straight to hell” mentality drilled into their head. Luckily, I escaped that mentality with the help of my first serious gf… Thank you, Holly!

He’s a complete idiot. Aggressive girls are normally wildcats in bed. I have a floormat. Paid $4.99 for it, much cheaper than a woman I can walk all over and much more satisfying. If you’re scared of a challenging woman (ie, “less threatening”) then you don’t deserve one.
