It is frequently said that 30% of people cannot detect androstenone. I can smell the cat piss like odor. Other people think that it smells like sweat or b.o.
It would be great if you want to post saying whether you hate the smell or not and what it smells like to you 
Lets see if the numbers here justify the statistics data above

its not a horrible smell but its kinda a sharp, not quite harsh but noticeable during application… ammo for instance… i dislike the smell untill bout 5 minutes later when the anone has settled.

Personally, I think it smells like… well… unwashed guy parts. At least for the first ten minutes or so. Then either I’m used to it, or the smell dies down beyond my noticable recognition.
Once way to smell fresh, clean -none is to take a hot shower and do as many push ups as you can. When done, wipe your hand under your armpit and smell really closely.
30% of men can’t smell -none. Believe me, most women can smell it…
Yeah it smells like a spicy, stinky shoe. not an attractive smell at all. I think I need to do a major OD of none once. No matter how much none I use which has not been much, people seem very nice to me. I have never had anyone give the I want to kick your butt feeling while using none.

Personally I think it only smell slightly of cat piss, but strongly like sweat after a workout. I sweat easily and notice that my sweat is almost odorless when caused by heat, but definitely has a None odor when I sweat due to physical activity.
I can’t smell it when I apply it, but after and hour or so, I can definitely smell it. So how would I vote?
I think its the alcohol spray that gets me at first, but once any fragrance is gone, it smells pretty bad to me. Smells like… rotting sweat, if sweat could rot.

nope, AMMO. There’s something about AMMO I smell after the cologne smell goes away that smells terrible. I notice it if I pass out and don’t shower or if I get some on my shirt. I guess the only way I can describe it is it’s a dank, rancid smelling sweat.
so the qustion now is how can you prevent smelling like cat piss or armpit? Since gregri said most women can smell none.

aka First of all, never apply -none to your pits or..ahem..down there…big mistake…use a good cover scent and reapply if neccessary. 
That’s what I call ‘clean’ sweat…the best available -none there is…you can push up oooor do something like play a little tennis or shoot some hoops…mmmm…we’ll have a few frozen margaritas afterwards…lol…and..ah…talk…
Unfortunately I don’t smell anything when using Androstenone!
Of course, it obviously smells like…
…A little bit of feet, a little bit of sweat, and a little bit of sex. By itself, the odor is pretty foul, but the slight edge it gives to the fragrance of a really good cologne is actually pretty nice. Sort of bold, daring, sexy, and a bit dirty (but not the same kind of dirty that, for instance, copulins brings to the mix.)
Yep, that’s -none alright. I’ve had the same “day after” effects with ammo when going to sleep without a shower. I’ve noticed, however, that when I mix NPA with Issey Miyake, I don’t smell the -none at all, ever. There is a difference in the smell of the cologne when mixing, obviously, but it’s not unpleasant, as I said above.

Yes, it smells like a slightly sweet, piercing musk odor to me, very faint. If it’s worn under a fragrance, I don’t smell it so much but it’s like putting MSG into food, it seems to increase the intensity of a fragrance. Even stuff that smells bland, bizarre/nondescript (Aramis is one fragrance I can think of fitting the bill) smells better. It doesn’t smell like the “musk” colognes/perfumes you get (intense and obvious), it’s sort of like ambergris in its effect, definitely more of a deep “basenote”- also seems to hold a fragrance around a bit longer, maybe acting as a fixative as well.
I think just like MSG, less is more. And if you sweated alot, you probably wouldn’t need the stuff. In high doses, I could see this stuff smelling very offensive and wouldn’t attract anybody. Much like the aformentioned oakmoss/ambergris comparison. It would be cloying or sickening, and on its own with nothing covering it up, I think it would smell not particularly attractive to the average homo sapiens, at least males (even people with “clean” sweat, no deodorant don’t tend to smell that great, IMO… but I’m a guy). Deodorant manufacturers actually tweak their formulas so they smell good when mixed with sweat, to mask the odor and harmonize the smell.
Mind you, I’ve got a pretty sensitive nose that I’ve trained more over the years as I’ve gotten more interested in fragrances and essential oils. So some people may smell it, and not really notice it consciously.
Actually I hate the smell of androstenone. I had a workout queen GF that smelled like it after a couple hours in the gym (especially between the thighs). Sorta a simultaneous gross out and turn-on. But I agree in small quantities it’s funky musk can enhance overly sweet colognes. Nautica Competition (clone of Ammo’s scent) certainly improves with NPA mixed in. Also Burberry Weekend is kickin’ 5:1 with NPA.
For one year i also could not detect the odour of androstenone, I actually thought it was a load of Bull Sh*t when i heard comments from Gegogi and others discribing the smell.
And then something must have happened because i started to notice the characteristic wee kinky stinky odour coming from my pheromone products and man. now i understand.
I must admit that i find the odour a pleasant one, some products nicer than others but all distinctivly pheromone none ish.
Also i have surprised my self on several occasions when i have been as randy as a man can be and have felt a desperate need for a woman to make love with, then that is the time i perspire like anything and the odour is like very super strong Androstenone and it is so pronounced in its character it really amazes me that its actually being produced by myself at the time that i am seriously on heat. Oh so Hot hot hot :o OH me Oh my. there just aint anything on Earth like a woman.

That’s pretty common that people who are anosmic (technical term) to androstenone eventually are able to discern it to one degree or another.
