Tish deserves your thumbs. Both of them … and with clean thumb nails! I always listen to a woman when she comments on a scent, and just hope that I like it, too!
I’m lost on your SPLIT. “Same juice, but in a cheaper bottle.” ???
Tobacco Vanille by Tom Ford has my interest, too, but I’m still trying to collect cans to help pay for it! Do come back and tell.
Jabez,
where do you buy your dirty English from?
It seems this product was discontinued and the one up on Amazon has too many comments that its a fake…
Dopamineadfict if scent isn’t lasting I read on bassnotes to apply a fragrance free skin lotion and then apply your colognes also try to buy they gel and or aftershave for your favorite colognes.
By ‘cheaper bottle’ I mean the generic decant bottles. A lot of folks go out and drop $400 on a niche fragrance when they could just get in on a split of the fragrance on Basenotes or in the YouTube fragrance community, but to each their own. I don’t mind the generic, ‘cheap’ (as they put it!) bottles at all since it’s the same juice as a pretty awesome price. I don’t have any of my fragrances out on display, so having the exact authentic bottle isn’t as much of a concern to me.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Tobacco Vanille. It’s extremely strong with an intense blast of vanilla over the tobacco. A lot of people complain about the vanilla being too loud, but as a vanilla lover I’m digging it. The tobacco is definitely there. Smells like an old world '50s-'60s gentlemen’s club in Vegas or something. (Or what I’d imagine one smelling like.)
I also got in on a split of Tom Ford’s Tuscan Leather. A very daring, smokey leather! Not sure I can really pull it off without a leather jacket or in a very fine suit. It’s classy as all get out.
I agree 100% with you about listening to a woman on what she likes when she comments on a scent, my friend!! Of course, I do buy fragrances for myself on the basis that I like them, but if a girl that I’m around compliments one more particularly than the other I tend to find myself wearing it around her more often than not over the other ones.
Oftentimes I do that, but thanks for taking the time to write that suggestion. It usually works pretty well. For Polo Blue, I got it in a giftset and it came with a little bit of shower gel and aftershave lotion. Liked it a lot and it was fantastic for layering!
Check out Fragrancenet – they have a 1.7oz bottle for about $28-29 American.
My all time favorite is Angel Men (or A*Men) by Thierry Mugler. Haven’t been able to find anything I like as much. The only others that have come close are other Thierry Mugler scents and maybe Ferragamo (the original one).
I usually use Ferrari Black as my cologne. I love the scent, it’s peppery and subtle, it’s great for covering the mone scent. I also have some Dior Fahrenheit as well which I love. Good stuff. I don’t tend to use the Fahrenheit much, as I have a tiny bottle of it, and it usually doesn’t take much.
Up in arms with this one ever since Old Spice discontinued this but was wondering if there is a cologne that matches the smell that some of you may know of out there as I have received tons of hits from women of all ages.
Discontinued Pit stick product was: Old Spice Aqua Reef.
If I could find a cologne that matches this smell it would be greatly appreciated.
It seems that most of the smells out there are too over powering for me when they seem to hit my skin. This smell if I had to describe it would be like a nice clean I just got out of the ocean and scrubbed myself down good with soap type a smell.
The hits I had from women most all there commentary has been: You smell so clean I love the smell women in there 20 - 30s
Women in there 30 - up I love what your wearing today the smell seems not so over powering like some of the smells I smell when out shopping.
I have had other comments but you get the idea men I know have even commented on it in a good way also saying they would even like to find a cologne that smells like this as it is not over powering.
If there is any other smells you women or men out there feel is not a real over the top smell I am looking for other not so over powering colognes.
My wife is crazy about Davidoff Cool Water Cologne for Men. She particularly liked it when she was younger - early 30’s. I have since turned her on to spicyer and more citrusy things that still keep the cedar / sandalwood going. I have a feeling she would like Nautica Blue.
My personal fav for while is Issey Miyake L’eau D’issey Pour Homme
recently I did a blind smell tour of Men’s colognes at Sephora, and ended up liking Acqua Di Gio Essenza Cologne by Giorgio Armani best. Though I still love that Miyake.
C.K. Shock for men (the one with the bright green logo), I found the tobacco/slightly spicy fragrange in it does a good job of covering I.H. and A1. While still smelling fresh.
Yup - I cannot stress often enough about just how often I’ve heard women (over a fairly wide age range) say that the scent of Cool Water on a slightly sweaty man is a massive turn-on to them.
Pity it has become (Along with Armani Code) the adult equivalent of Axe/Lynx here - The smell of Cool Water often comes billowing out at you the moment you open the door of more mature clubs!
Zegna Intenso
Aqua Di Gio

And good old Old Spice! Not kidding. When I wear it I always get comments from women. They typically say their Dad used to wear it. Good for those gals with Daddy issues!
I like the scent of Old Spice myself but have only found it as after shave. As such it lacks longevity to effectively cover mones for a whole day/evening but I sometimes dab it on my face in the evening while at home just because it feels relaxing.
Probably because my dad and other guys I saw up to as a kid used to wear it.
When buying designer fragrances, I stick to brands not involved in the fur industry which is a despicable business.
If nothing else Misein, wearing Old Spice can be used as a “door opener” with the ladies. It is a very distinctive smell, and I recon that a lot of Dads wore it back in the day. I know my Dad did. More than any other aftershave/cologne, it is the one that I instantly recognize. Not kidding, when I wear it, ladies I’m around mention it by name. It is well proven that certain smells can conjure up thoughts and memories. These memories were “imprinted” back in the day, and show themselves later when re-exposed. And so it works with mones too IMO. There is much written here about imprinting which I find fascinating.
You can get the cologne anywhere, like drug stores. I know I’ve seen it in Walgreens.
I bought a bottle of Old Spice White Water EdT dirt cheap in a store last summer. A different scent, also very nice. Too bad I only grabbed one bottle as it’s never been re-stocked after it sold out.
It’s not readily available where I live but I may have to order some online some day.
I like the scent so much, Old Spice puts a little extra skip in my step when I use it after shaving.
The AS is far too short lived to use as cover for mones though.
Gucci Guilty Intense & Yves Saint Laurent L’Homme (before it was Saint Laurent Paris).
Also, women respond well to the cologne the father wears/wore. Since Aqua Di is the best selling cologne in the country, it’s a good staple to have in your collection. Old Spice is another one that brings many women back and reminds them of daddy, especially the younger crowd (mid-20’s).
Davidoff Cool Water (Ammo smells like this to me), CREED Green Irish Tweed and Versace Black Jeans are also excellent colognes, some of my favorites.
