What deodorants do you like to use?

Then thank goodness I don’t shave my armpits…I wax them (less chance of ingrowns, too)

I clip… even that makes them stupid itchy - I can’t imagine what shaving would be like

Stupid coarse métis hair

Waahhhh I don’t wanna explooooodee.

What exactly is ingrown hair?

Old Spice. Sport scent deodarent. Not AP

Ingrown hairs occur when you clip/shave hair super close to the skin… on occasion instead of growing back out the hair gets itself all stuck up and doesn’t.

You end with irritated bumps that eventually go away (best case) - worst case is ending up with a minor infection/cyst that needs to be removed

The more coarse/curly your hair, the more likely you are to have ingrown hairs.

For example - It’s super common for black men to have problems with ingrown hairs on their beardline

Oh, damn. Thanks for the info, much appreciated.

How do you know when you have a cyst? Sorry for dumb questions, I am a little bit of a naive Hispanic. :frowning:

My cousin, used to (not sure if he still does) shave his privates and because of that he got one of these on his ASS! The poor guy couldn’t sit down, until he got it removed. Man, not sure how he got one on his ass, must have been shaving um, his ass as well?

That makes two of us! You of Mexican descent? Or Cuban? Or something else?

I doubt that the reason he got one there was because of shaving his genitals. Ingrown hairs can occur anywhere. I get minor ones on my knees and thighs occasionally because I wear tight Levi’s. All it takes is a hair to break off close to the base, slightly below the top layer of skin. And since you’re constantly sitting down, pressure speeds the process.

The #1 best way to prevent ingrown hairs is to exfoliate after shaving/waxing/etc. Don’t believe me, go check out any website about women shaving their private areas. I started scrubbing once a week with a loofah pad and I very rarely get ingrown hairs on my legs anymore.

And for the record, no I don’t shave my legs.

Cyst is generally no big deal - it’s kind of like a blister except the fluid inside isn’t water and it isn’t from rubbing - they also aren’t as squishy

It’s skin is also generally quite a bit thicker

They can also just occur naturally or from some diseases

I get cysts behind my ears all the time… sometimes they just go away by themselves… once one got pretty big so I went to the doctor and he just lanced it (basically poke a needle in… it doesn’t hurt) and I was done.
(I actually have two little ones behind my left ear right now)

MOSQUITO BITES - Cysts look alot like mosquito bites

I like using the scrubbing fingered gloves; they exfoliate very well and give you the ease to really get in all the nooks and crannies and scrub/exfoliate very good.

Under your arms, what you think may be a cyst might well be a lymph node, because your axilla is a lymph node center.

I don’t shave my pits, even when I was into swimming. I guess it’s my Korean heritage but I barely have any hairs yonder.

Clipping = already stupid itchy… I can’t imagine shaving would be fun
