Hi Gem!

You can make a donation to any Women’s Shelter or Organization which relates to this issue in your country. They used to say “a little goes a long way”. MERCY MALAYSIA provides medical and humanitarian aids to war torn countries, disaster stricken countries regardless of races, religions, cultures and boundries. We served in Afghanistan and Iraq during the war and after. During the Iraq war, 2 of our volunteers (a driver & a translater) were killed in a crossfire, (may God place them in heaven). Two of my doctor friends (a male & a female) were badly injured due to gun shots that came like rain. The American forces were bombarding Baghdad non-stop and there was no safe place to take cover. One of them was paralyze. A heavy price to pay for an unpaid work for unknown people.

A part than that, we provide food, tents, medical assistance to earthquake, flood and tsunami victims in Iran, India, Cambodia, Sumatra, Sri Lanka and some other countries. We did offer our assistance to the “Katrina” hurricane victims some time ago, but we were told that the US government can manage it.

I do my work with MERCY in my free time. Sometimes I take leave from my company to render my small services to people. I really like this work as much as I like people. People used to ask me what do I get from doing this? I used to reply - Worn out and exhaustion!!

Gem, thank you very much!

Mohammad

and you can use that money to buy more pheromones!! :stuck_out_tongue:

Awesome thread, Mohammad. As I’ve mentioned, I’m on the board of directors for our local domestic violence shelter. Alaska has insanely high rates of domestic violence and child abuse, the highest in the US. I posted a little about that in the Pheromones and Family thread.

Even in this day and age, there is still the urge for people to blame the victim. I don’t understand why some people think it’s okay to blame the victim.

I do a lot of volunteer work because I love doing it. I personally believe that doing volunteer work is the rent I have to pay for living on this earth. I have been blessed with so much, and volunteering for charity is one small way to give back.

Thanks AKmedic! Actually, you’re an inspiring woman!

You’re brave and a good hearted woman and I salute you for that. I hope you will continue contributing your efforts to the society, and may God protect and bless you always.

Hi Guys!

Last Sunday, November 25th was an International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. Didn’t realized that it has been a year since I wrote this post in a part of a campaign to call upon men around the world to understand the problem. Let’s continue to support and help to eliminate violence against women. If you and I don’t do it, then who will?

Thanks Guys!

God bless.

Yeah good 4 you Shah OH mighty Champion, I 4 one second your cause in the fight against ignorance and unrighteous dominion.

Thanks for your continuous support!

May God bless you always.

Hi Mohammad!

Glad to see you continue to support this cause. More men need to jump on the bandwagon!

My husband and I contribute to the local women and childrens’ shelter in our area. They need all the help they can get. Contibutions don’t have to be monetary. Toiletries, disposable diapers and everyday necessities are always appreciated. At this time of year Xmas gifts are needed, especially for the children. If any of you can find it in your heart, contact a local shelter in your area and ask what’s on their “wish list”, they’ll be very happy to tell you how to make your donation.

Sadly, in many cultures, the horrific abuse of women is a way of life. We all learn by example. People are not born abusers.

God bless YOU, Mohammed, for keeping peolpe aware and never giving up the fight.

GENTLEMEN, recruit your brothers! The women of this world need you.

Where I come from, INTERNATIONAL DAY for the ELIMINATION of VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN is 365 days a year!!!

My best always,
Bella

Hi Bella!
It’s really good to know about you and your husband’s efforts to your community in your area. Hope more and more people will come forward for the good cause and efforts which are lacking these days.

AKmedic (a brave female fire fighter), wrote this on the forum:“I do a lot of volunteer work because I love doing it. I personally believe that doing volunteer work is the rent I have to pay for living on this earth. I have been blessed with so much, and volunteering for charity is one small way to give back”.

May God bless you and your husband too and everyone else here.

Excellent thread! 20 years ago I had a best friend who had been abused by her ex, who was also the father of her daughter. I saw first hand how completely this guy had fucked up her life! (excuse the vulgarity, but it applies). She was afraid of the bedroom and slept in the living room most nights. She would not look anybody in the eyes. She was an alcoholic. She had no self-esteem and she obviously couldn’t trust anybody enough to date. I remember one evening we were playing around and I had her on the floor tickling her, when her 4 year old daughter ran in the room crying and trying to pull me off her mother. That’s when I truly realized how badly this asshole had hurt her and her daughter.

I am one to always stand up for a woman. If I see a guy abusing a woman, I will step in every time, and could care less whether I get my ass beat or not, which I have on numerous occasions. I have never actually observed physical abuse first hand, which is probably a good thing, as I would find a way to kill or seriously maime the asshole doing it.

I will agree with some of the observations made that abuse is learned behavior, but I’ll also go a step further and say that many men who were not raised in abusive families can become abusive due to low self-esteem, self-confidence and just generally being an asshole. By knocking the girl down to their level or below, it’s their way of contolling the woman and insuring that she doesn’t leave, because he’s managed to convince her that she is worthless. And, in doing so, maybe they even manage to feel a little better about themselves.

I believe that domestic violence is every bit as bad as sexual abuse, and oftentimes domestic violence leads to sexual abuse anyway. But, the point I’m making is that I believe that we should institute a national database of convicted, as well as suspected abusers, and those convicted should be required to register in any city they live. This would not only make it far easier to spot abuse early and end it, but also could give women an insight into guys they may be considering, or have started dating. This database should also be available on-line, just like the sex offenders database.

Anyway, those are my thoughts, and I just wanted to jump in, share them and agree with everybody here.

Excellent post, Mark!

Couldn’t express it better than you!

May God the Almighty bless (people like) YOU always.

Thanks so much Mohammad. I just sent you a PM to thank you for the reps too.

Actually, may God bless all of us.

Thank you very much, Mark! Thanks for all the support!

Mohammad,

Thank you for the rep point, you’re my first!

Bella

You’re most welcome!

Hey folks, Have you all heard the song Face Down by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus? I love that song, because even though it is about abuse, the song is slamming the abuser and talks about actions and consequences. The song ends with the girl finally having had enough and finding a new life!

Anybody that hasn’t heard it and wants to, I’ve uploaded it to my server, and you are welcome to have a listen. Here’s a link: http://democomputer.com/rja-face_down.wma

Hope you like it!

Mark, speaking about assholes, I encountered a similar experience to yours 2 years ago. This post was written quite sometime ago.

Ya, it really sucks, AKmedic! The girl told me that her ex-bf used to beat her up and at one time kicked her stomach and face repeatedly till she passed out! I remember a Kuwaiti nurse once said, “I’ve an awkward feeling…I live among people who have two eyes but could not see, and beating hearts but could not feel!”. But, suprisingly, she loves the ‘ass hxxx’ dearly! If I were to lived in the “Wild Wild West” era, I definitely have shot that jerk with a “Gatling Gun”!

Last year, she tried to commit suicide twice when her bf dumped her after being told that she was made pregnant by him! I found her lying on the floor unconscious…me and my other friend, Nadia, took her to the hospital. I took leave from work and “camped” in the hospital 3 days and 3 nights till the Security Guards came and asked me to leave. When she was discharged, her landlord locked her room bcoz her rental is due and she was broke, so I brought her home and she stayed with me for a month till she was fully recovered. She started work as a waitress in Pizza Hut and recently, she came and stayed in my house for 20 days and left. Haven’t seen her since then, but once a while she contacts me…I guess, there’s a fine line between love and craziness…

Have a nice day, AKmedic. May God bless you with all the happiness in this world and hereafter.

Mohammad :frowning:

well i thought that it’s time i said something too, having been on the recieving end of a fist on more than one occasion but the sad thing is that i don’t know what to say. so i found this little book of rhymes and i thought i would just add that in, of course it has no affiliation with any situation i have been in it’s just the sad way that life for women was depicted ages ago and in many cases still is today.

i don’t remember if i have told any of you, even though i live in Greece and am from half Greek descent i was born and raised in South Africa, i know it’s not Africa Africa but we still see some of the same things happen when it comes to rituals etc., i remember one of the girls i had in my restaurant her name was Beauty and she was one of the sweetest, quietest African girls i knew but if you had to take a look at her you would wonder what the F***, as she had all these cut mark scars from her so called initiation into womanhood actually just thinking about it makes me sad and to think that we are living in the 21nd century and this shit is still going down, i dunno guys I’ve seen a lot of this kind of thing and have lived through being battered from a young age myself whether it was my mother, stepfather or a boyfriend I’ve been there and i suppose the worst thing that anyone of us can do whom have found ourselves in these situations is to think that it was either our fault or that we deserved it. For some strange and very weird reason though, most of us actually believe this to be true and stay in bad relationships and don’t report abuse for exactly that reason. i would like to tell any one out there who might be in any kind of similar situation - no it’s not your fault and no you didn’t deserve it and yes you probably will be screwed up for a while but we are never dealt anything that we cannot absolutely deal with and if you believe in yourself enough you will be able to come out and get high up and above the situation.it’s your life, my life, our lives and we make the rules not some scum bag boyfriend or idiot stepfather or alcoholic mother for that part, YOUR life you live it you make the decisions and don’t let anyone EVER stand in your way.trust yourself, believe in you and eventually you will make it to the other side, and see that all is well. it might be difficult in the beginning, the whole trust thing when it comes to others whether they be male or female but in time if you can learn to believe just in you first you learn that you could trust someone else too. it takes practice and a shit load of work but like they say practice makes perfect and every dark cloud has a silver lining.

for all who have read this and been there all i can say is smile be trusting to yourself and you will be happy. for all who have never been there may the universe be there for you and guide you enough to never end up there.

have a great day all

ps well it seem that i have written enough now as i wasn’t planning on writing this much oh and check the attachment for the rhymes on Are Women People??? By ALICE DUER MILLER
